- A TV tuner converts the antenna's modulated radio frequency (RF) signal to a format that can drive your display. A tuner isn't suitable for cable as they use different encoding and modulation signals. Just take the output of your cable receiver and connect it to your video card and this should be all you need. Just make sure that you use matching standards eg composite to composite, s-video to s-video, componet to component etc.
- You can watch TV via s-video (black port) or composite (yellow). The RF is usually a transmitter that talks to the cable box to change channels. When you change it with your remote or computer, the transmitter sends the same signal to the cable box so the channels are in sync.
