1. laptop's do not really need maintenance. The batteries need to be replaced every 2 to 3 years, but that's all. Notebooks and Laptops are the same thing. They are synonyms.

The name Laptop was used earlier to the mobile computers, But now the manufacturers changed the name given to that since those mobile machines were not only kept on our laps to work with it. Of course there were some problems in having those machines on our laps, Machines would get heated and our laps though. Now you can see the names given to the Mobile computers as Think Pad(TP), Note Book.
4. IBM and SONY(wit blue ray disk driver with writer)are the costliest to maintain. notebooks and laptops are one and the same but the prior being much sleeker.
5. Laptops don't need maintenance unless you need to increase your RAM or replace a battery. If by "table" you mean Tablet PC, with a tablet PC the screen is a touchscreen. You can write on it with the stylus without a keyboard.Its very good for taking notes in college. A notebook or Laptop doesn't have a touchscreen so you can't write directly on it.Thats the main difference.
