What to buy in India this March? Sony Vaio VGN CR35 G/L,14.1" or HP Pavilion 6767tx,15.4"?

Help me choose, please. Specs: (at Panipat, Haryana) Sony VAIO : Core 2 Duo T8100(2.1Ghz.) processor, 2GB RAM, ATI Mobility X2300 128MB graphics, 200GB SATA 5400RPM HDD, 14.1" screen = Rs. 54990.00(MRP). HP Pavilion 6767tx : Core2 Duo T5550(1.83 Ghz.), 3GB RAM, 250GB HDD, 5400RPM, 15.4" screen, 256 MB Nvidia8400M GS = Rs. 54990.00 (+ taxes extra). My thoughts: 1) Bigger screen= more power consumption. 2) HP has more outlets & service centres, than sony, in India 3) Sony does not offer Nvidia 8600M graphics, and i WILL play demanding games sometimes, though not always. 4) HP offers 8600 M GT on 17" laptops, which are diificult to carry around. Sony has a bit small 14.1" screen, will it be good for movies and internet? 5) which is more RUGGED, Sony or HP? 6) Which has better service and running lifetime costs, breakdown cycles, etc.?

  1. HP notebook is more powerful. If you can carry 2.5kg notebook and its bag and accessories (about 5kg) you can buy it.(If you have car). weight is so important. hp notebook is good for gaming.but if you are professional gamer, you should use desktop pc with better graphic card. 17 inch notebook is more powerful but as you said it's difficult to carry.
  2. Hi, Since you are mostly into gaming , you should prefer the one with the bigger screen. Power consumption should not be much of an issue, as all the laptop have centrino processors which makes the power consumption less. You will be happy with HP while gaming, remember the Nvedia chip's presence in it. Service centre availabiltiy of HP is also good. You are comparing 14.1 and 15.4 = weight issue, honestly, 14.1 and 15.4 are both heavy. If you need light ones, go for 12" screens they are very portable. Whatever you buy, remember they are sensitive handle with care. If you need rugged note books, look for >> panasonic tough books. Have fun buying.
