Where should I purchase my HP notebook? HP website or other websites like CompUSA BestBuy Staples etc.?
I would like to purchase a HP notebook ( not tablet type ). I don't want Compaq. I heard that HP is releasing new series dv4t dv5t dv7t. Any idea when are they exactly going to release them individually? I might go for the dv7t since it has a numpad and I am a numpad person. Should I buy it from HP's website directly or from other stores? Which will be cheaper? What are the pros and cons for each? Will it be (usually) cheaper if I customize them and apply certain coupons like $500 off $1399 customizable notebook? Should I customize it just for the sake of using the coupons to make it cheaper? I would actually need the basics only. Buy it in store or online, which is better for my situation? One more question: What is the difference between "notebook" and "laptop"?

- Bestbuy no doubt!
- Notebook and Laptop are synonymous. Usually it is cheaper to buy in a store like Circuit City or Best Buy. I wouldn't bother customizing it will just make it more expensive.
- You should purchase your HP notebook from either the Website or Best Buy. A couple of weeks ago, my family bought an HP Desktop from Best Buy. The people there were very informal and knew what they were doing. So, like I said either the Website or Best Buy.
- Not sure where they're getting released =\ I would buy it from the stores just because they tend to have better deals (cheaper) and if it breaks you don't have to ship it back and forth. When I got my HP Pavilion dv2500t (from the HP website), the thing was very broken, I sent it back, it came back WORSE, and then I had to bitch at them to just give me a whole new one. Which, of course they upgraded for free which is nice ;). But, I'd still get one at a store after my experience. I'm not sure about the customizing and everything. If you only need basics, then maybe not? It's really up to you on that one. Store. A notebook and a laptop are the same thing. They prefer 'notebook' because it sounds more sophisticated haha
- Catherine, If you are willing to spend that much money I would recommend looking for a cheapier Dell laptop. I have owned two HP computers and have had nothing but problems with them! Along with everyone I know.
- You can buy surely factory shipped products at the safe site of the world's leading computer makers at http://www.hp.com/ or go with the safe and famous http://www.amazon.com/ for great discounts. There are other websites like the really colourful and popular http://www.bestbuy.com/. If you live in or around India, see http://www.indiatimes.com/ for some enormous discounts. I got a $500 discount on my completely legal HP tx2000 Tablet PC with Vista Home Premium. I think they may ship overseas also.
- I think you should order your HP notebook from the HP website. Your HP notebook won't be cheap, but you will get good service from the HP website. You can add warranty to your computer for computer trouble.
