HP Store Online

How do I replace my HP Pavilion DV2000 Laptop DVD writer?

Is this possible for me to do on my own - it's still under warranty, but contacting HP and getting them to fix it is such a hassle, I feel like I could do it myself, and faster. The guys at Geek Squad said it'll be really expensive to have an outside company do it. Can I purchase the drive from and online store? I don't know what kind to get, and I don't want to end up with an external one on accident. I just want to make sure I buy the right product...

  1. Yea, all you need to do is take out one screw that holds the current one in, put the new one in, and replace the screw. You can get a new one here: http://www.getpartsonline.com/417061-001.html Here are the instructions for removing/replacing the drive: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035657.pdf Go to section 5.9 in the manual.
