Why are online photos and videos appearing in really bad quality on my laptop?

Recently, for some reason online photos and videos are appearing in very bad quality on my laptop. I haven't knowingly changed any settings or anything like that. Photos and videos that I have stored on the laptop are fine, it is just online that image quality is really bad. Can anyone suggest why this might be happening and what I can do to solve it? I am using Windows Vista and Internet Explorer. The laptop is an HP Pavillion dv6000.

Check Graphics settings, and also if you installed new Dial up service (but not limited to this) it may have come with an "accelerator" which means, it doesn't download everything, so you think your internet is going faster, but it's really not. =D So check and see if you have a "Accelerator" on your system.
