Model no. for a customized laptop?
I made a purchase from the HP store online and got a dv6000z. I could not find the model no. on the the sticker label backside. All I could find it is dv6000 CTO Notebook. Is it that all custom made laptops have no specific model no such as DV6xxxUS? Otherwise, help me where I could locate it.

- I have the same situation with my older zd8000, but what helps me to get around in their stores is the part number (p/n) and serial number (s/n), which you can find both at the bottom of your laptop (I think -- preferred way), or by clicking on Start - Help and Support, and check the info at the top of the page under "Product Information" -- it may be different from the label at the bottom! You may also continue to click there on Learn More about Your PC - View the Product Information for My Computer - type the p/n (that you found following the instruction in the paragraph above) in the "Search products" box. Will probably still come back with CTO thing, but gives you the starting point there.... Good luck!
- I guess they do it that way so it's easy to list, and find parts. My HP is a zv53somethingz - can't remember, but when my Hard Drive broke, I couldn't find a single Hard Drive for the 53somethingz, so I looked on the bottom of the laptop, and it said zv5000. So I searched ebay, and was able to find the part I needed in no time. If the link from previous answer doesn't work, try: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html?pageDisplay=support Click "start detection" install active x controls click next.
