Does anyone have any information regarding hp photosmart r707 digital camera recall?

I have this digital camera and while it was charging it just got really hot and completely fried the camera. I look up my warranty and find out that there was a safety recall. When I contacted hp they claim this specific recall has expired, so there is nothing they can do. I was never contacted about recall, so a 2 year old $350.00 camera is garbage. ANY ADVICE?
