Reviews on the best digital camera(s) out there?

I'm looking for some reviews on a highly recommended digital camera. My husband and I are purchasing a new one and I'd like to get some opinions on both recommended ones and ones to stay away from. Thank you.

Best digital camera? The Nikon D3. Pretty expensive too. If you're looking for a point and shoot...well, stick to the big guys: Nikon, Canon, and Panasonic are pretty safe bets. As money is no object, then clearly the best camera in 35mm DSLR would be the Canon 1ds mark 3. Full frame 21mp, beat that. Try dpreview.com.
For starters you might try going to local library and look for Nov'07 Consumers Reports magazine. Website dpreview.com has reviews of many cameras, specs and prices.
