Why do people buy Sony Compact Digital Cameras?

What makes a large percentage of teenagers buy Sony compact cameras? Is it just for the brand name? Wouldn't pioneers of cameras like Olympus, Fujifilm, and Canon be better? Does all the Sony technology really work or is it BS? (Technology like Sony's 14-bit Digital EXtended Processer; The advanced Super HAD (Hole Accumulated Diode) CCD design allows more light to pass to each pixel, increasing sensitivity and reducing noise.;D-Range Optimization, etc)

1. Teens go for Sony because they are stylish and they have big words so it must mean its good ;) lol but yea teens go for sony because they are very stylish.
2. they really are the best technology for the money. Olympus/canon does make some better 35 mm cameras if you are professional, but sony combines easy to use, with fun, pretty nice technology and like you mentioned, a brand name.
3. 1) simple to use 2) name brand they know and have herd of 3) they look better then some of the others it has nothing to do with image quality... its everything else that matters for their poularity they do produce good images just not much better then the other brands if at all...certain models will be better then other, canons are not better then sony and vise versa... it just depends on the individual camera

5. Sony knows how to market their products. I think they're the only company that sells cameras that come in a variety of colors. Pink, Baby Blue, Red, White, Black, Silver. Everybody else is either black or silver. They know that teens love to express themselves and most of them do it with their accessories...in this case electronic accessories...like digital cams, cellphones, pdas, etc... Another point is that there are some features that are only available on Sony digicams at the moment...they're the only one who uses Carl Zeiss lenses. They're supposed to be the best in the business. The latest T-series cameras have face detection software for better portrait pictures too. But like most people said and I believe too, Sony cameras to me are more of the name. I still prefer Canon cameras myself.
