What are the best digital cameras that can clearly focus and take intra-oral pictures?

I'm an orthodontist and I would like to have recommendations on the best brands/models of digicams that can take sharp and detailed pictures of teeth or any structures inside the mouth. I'm not really a professional photographer, so I prefer "user-friendly" cameras that can meet my above-mentioned needs. Thanks

  1. Anything 5 megapixels or better.
  2. You will need a DSLR camera, a macro lens and a ring flash. Go to a real camera store - not a store that sells 10,001 other things and cameras - and talk to a professional camera salesperson. There are also dental supply houses that sell the equipment you need.
  3. By way of this Website a certain Dr. helps me out with cameras. Hopefully he'll see your question, for he might possibly get to the root of your answer.
  4. You'll need an digital SLR camera, plus a macro lens, plus a ring flash. Point and shoot cameras don't properly light macros, creating shadows which hide detail. You can set an SLR on "automatic" which will make it function just like a point and shoot. It's just that all those buttons and the size make it intimidating. I would suggest the Nikon D80, the R1 macro flash, and the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro lens as the way to go. On a budget? The Fujfilm S2 Pro, a Sunpak macro flash with Nikon-compatible module, and the Tamron 90mm would work too.
