What are the best digital cameras?
What are the best digital cameras out there? I was thinking about buying the Canon PowerShot A530. Is this a good choice? What would everyone else recommend? Your help would be appreciated.

- I always read the reviews at stevesdigicams.com
- For a point and shoot I'd go with Canon SD700. I got it because : 1. it is small, light, thin, which make it more likely you bring it with you 2. extremely user friendly, has electronic stabilization which corrects for hand jitter. 3. big lcd, works well even in sunlight 4. CHEAP, you should get it for $300, get the SD900 or SD500 if you want to spend less or more If you are looking a deal, check out black friday deals at Modoshi : http://www.modoshi.com Hope this helps.
- Go for the PowerShot A540 it's alittle more than the 530 but gives you a much bigger screen. You won't be sorry with this camera.
- I've seen reviews for the Canon Powershot A540,and it's been given very high marks, packing a lot of features and producing good results for a camera of this price,so the A530 would be a good bet too.The Nikon Coolpix L-series are also very good for the beginner, being very easy to use, whilst not compromising on quality. Both brands take AA batteries, which is an added convenience.
- It's not the 'best' digital camera- but for under $150, it's a solid product. There are other cameras with more interesting features, capabilities and packaging- but they'll cost a bit more. The SD700IS is cuter, takes excellent photos but is twice the price at $300. I like the Fuji F30 and F20 a lot. the F20 is under $200 and has the capability to shoot high ISO with low noise. i.e. has much better low light sensitivity so that you can shoot indoors without that annoying flash, red-eye and such. Plus- the battery lasts forever. Or, the little panasonics, like the FX01 is also around $200 and has a terrific wide angle 28mm lens (very handy) and built in image stabilization. There are plenty of good cameras out there. For the price, the A530 or 540 are good choices for basic cameras, but I wouldn't call them the 'best'.
- Cnet.com has great reviews and maybe even video reviews. IMO, I love the Sony Cybershot DSC-T9. Their is no hole for looking through with your eye, just the BIG LCD screen. There are no selections for effects on taking a picture (like sepia, B+W) but the colors are always bright and beautiful. The flash is great. There's also a timer. Also, what I love about this camera is that there is a video (with sound!) function (which is pretty much limited to how much space you have on your chip...sometimes allowing for 20 minutes) which is like a camcorder's quality.
- the best camera outhere is the new canon PowerShot G7
