Buying a notebook computer for school, need some help??
I have always had HP desktops but I am buying a notbook for school this fall. I would like to get the apple air but I've never used an apple and it seems like everything is super complicated and way more expensive and like they dont come with much. But I need a very light easily carriable computer. I want something that will hold tons of picutres and music and has a great viewing system. I need to do lots of word processing. I also want it to be cute and stylish. I have around 2,000 dollars for all of the compnents accessories and operating systems. What would you recommend?

- I would highly recommend you getting a TOSHIBA laptop. They're super great. You can buy them at a cheap price and they'll come with lots of memory, a good processor or a great one, and probably at least 100 gigabytes of hard drive space.
- Check out some of Lenov's offerings. They make some of the lightest, thinest laptops around. They are also very well made and durable, and will still be a lot less that apple's offerings. They are also among the highest rated in customer satisfaction. All-around a very good laptop, I wouldn't say good for the money, they are pricey, and if you can sacrifice some size/weight you can save yourself $500-$1000 even over the price of the Lenovo, $1500-$2000 over an apple. Apples aren't junk, just WAY WAY over-priced for what you get. Also, they are not complicated, they are DIFFERENT than windows, but not particularly complicated... After all, remember Mac's were originally developed for, and marketed TO people who were too "dumb" to use windows machines... You wouldn't have a problem transitioning.
- I had purchased a Fujitsu-Seimens for one of my colleague and as of now it has no problem with either hardware and software. And I installed a Windows XP Service Pack 2 on it because as of now it is the most dependable software when it comes to processing and installing new hardwares or softwares or even add ons.
- I don't recommend you switch from a PC platform to Mac. Macs are more expensive, and so is their software (usually at least $10+ more expensive than the PC versions). Plus, some of the programs you may want to get in the future may not be compatible with the Mac. I have a 3-year old HP laptop for home use which I love. It cost me $1500 and has 80GB, which at the time was a lot. I also have a brand new HP laptop for work which I also like a lot, though I don't know the details about it. With Father's Day coming up I expect you will see a lot of laptops on sale, and HP systems can usually be found for a decent price. $2000 should be able to get you a really nice HP laptop!
- I had an Apple MacBook and didn't like it at all because I was so used to PCs. I ended up getting an HP laptop instead (the dv6700t one) and love it. The MacBook is cute and stylish, but the HP is more functional for me. Since you've been using HP desktops, I would recommend sticking to PCs.
