HP Store Online

we are shopping around for a new printer/scanner/copier for our Dell desktop computer, and can anyone help?

first, are dell computers compatible with, for ex., hp or lexmark, etc., or do we have to stick with dell "accessories? second, how can we tell if another "brand" of printer will work with our dell computer before we buy? third, is one brand better than another? like on the ink replacements, clarity, price? the new printer would be just for home/pleasure use.

  1. Both my next door neighbour and her Mum have Dell desktops and they have the Canon iP series all in one printer/scanner copier. They work fine (EVEN under Vista) and haven't given any problems.
  2. You can buy any brand of printer that you want. You don't have to stick with DELL. Any brand that will run on your operating system will work. If you want to save money in the long run buy a laser printer. It costs more up front but the cost per page is less.
  3. I recommend Epson all in one machines. Epson stands behind their products. You can get one for under $100 and yes, it will be compatible with your Dell computer.
  4. Dell computers are compatible with brand name printers such as HP, lexmark, etc. No, you do not have to stick with dell accessories. Before you buy the printer, all you have to do is make sure that the printer is compatible with your operating system (XP, Vista, etc). There will be other requirements listed on the printer box, that you should check, but if you have an XP or vista, you will be fine. My advice would be to buy an HP printer. They seem to last the longest and are really good on ink. My recommendation would be the HP Photosmart C3310 series. They are great on ink because you can buy it in a pack for cheaper than one at a time. And the ink last very long. This printer has scanner, copier, fax, and also print photos. Check it out. I have this printer, and let me tell you, its great. The only thing is it's a little expensive.
