When buying a laptop, what should you look for in your purchase?
I'm searching for a new laptop, preferably HP. I want to know what qualties are the best in a laptop. Also what accessories are needed for a laptop that may not come with the laptop?

- "When buying a laptop, what should you look for in your purchase?" I look for the Apple logo.
- You want wireless connectivity. You want long battery life. A good screen (you may be looking at it for long stretches of time) Depending on what you need it for, you'll also want a large hard drive, lots of computing power and lots of memory, graphics card. Some nice accessories: USB Flash drive USB Wireless mouse (so you don't have to use a trackball/pad for everything)
- Hey, it depends on what you want to use your computer for, if you want to use it for high end stuff like gaming, you preferably need a hp with more ram, and a high end video card, and a core 2 duo proccesor. But if your looking for a laptop just for everyday use like browsing internet and watching movies, the cheapest hp will be good!!
- Here are some considerations. How often are you going to carry it with you? Weight might be a consideration. How long are you going to use it at a time away from your desk? Battery life might be a consideration. What are you going to run on it? Games might argue for increased processor and dedicated video. What are you going to store on it? Multimedia might require a bigger hard drive. What do you need to take with you? If you are planning on burning or even reading CD/DVDs while away from your desk you will need those drives integrated, if not you can do with external drives. Personally, I love my tablet PC. It is from Motion Computing, weighs 3 pounds, and I can write on it.
- You may want to have something custom built. If not, I suggest looking for an extended warranty. Get an external mouse if you can and find out if it's possible to deactivate the touch pad for the mouse. It gets annoying having a jumping cursor. Make sure you have a wireless modem for your home and PLEASE secure the modem. (so others can't use your connection) Try to find a knowledgeable person to go with you while you are making the purchase for advice, sales persons are there to SELL.
