  1. I like the Epson range of printers, excellent photo reproduction, easy to use. I have an Epson Stylus photo R350 A4 printer it has a small LCD screen so you can print photo's without a computer, and a card reader. Love it, it works well. Paper to print cards; I use a slightly thicker paper say 150 GSM or 200GSM, normal or semi gloss. you must be careful as the thicker papers don't always go through your printers paper path. A flat paper path is best, one where the paper doesn't have to bend too much. Secondly a publishing program like Microsoft Publisher or Printshop, that helps you, with templates to design a great looking card. Third, some times a little paper glue, and some glitter or a sequin or two, just help make a card complete. Good luck!
  2. if your computer can print onto card that in a5 size you can buy disks for card making you can also get free projects to down load and print out. when buying a printer check how much it will cost to replace the ink cartridges or if you can refill them . check out local bootsales as sometimes you can pick up a printer there cheap.
  3. A nice photo printer or even an inkjet, if you're not planning to print photos (Epson, HP or Canon are good brands) and cardstock. Also, some software that you can find online or even in your local Michaels or even Joann craft stores. I've used one by Creating Keepsakes and it was easy to use and turned out nice.
