Upgrading the Power Supply on HP Pavillion M8020n?

My PC only came with a 300W power supply, however I was told that if I wanted to add an Nividia 8600GT Graphics card I would need a power supply of at least 450-500W. Can anyone tell me how do I choose the right Power supply for My PC Thanks

  1. Hey Well, yeah whoever told you you'd need a bigger power supply is right. I suggest getting a 500w PSU(Power supply unit). Choosing the right PSU is very simple, and is not hard to install at all. If you can go in there and figure out how to connect everything, great(Hard to explain what to do by typing). If not try calling Geek Squad or a local computer store. Heres a power supply that works great, and made by a quality name(Antec) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817103940 Also, if you have the cash, try getting a 9600GT. It's a more powerful video card, and it's easy on the wallet(around $160) Hope I helped! ~Peter
