HP Laptop power supply not working?

I bought an HP laptop recently. Sorry but I havn't got the model number with me. The problem is that it wont work without a power cable. Is there a setting I need to activate for it to work off the battery? Please let me know. I still have a warranty but I want to try & solve it myself before I contact the dealer.

  1. sounds like a bad battery to me!
  2. Does it have a battery in it?
  3. Your battery is dead. There is no way to activate or deactivate the battery.
  4. Make sure that there aren't any problems with the connectors on the battery and the laptop. You can also live chat with HP. http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-006&h_lang=en&h_cc=us&h_product=321957&h_client=S-A-R163-2&h_page=hpcom
  5. frist check the plug on the power cable if that looks ok then call the hp help line tomorrow at 8am on tell them your laptop power supply not working coz you bought an HP laptop recently you have a 1 year back up cover on all hp computers you may have a 3 year cover dont open the pc coz they will know you have & there goes your cover you dont want to lost your back up cover on it i have a hp pc my self there is no setting at all to make the battery soon as you remove the power cable if the battery is full it will just auto go to battery power
  6. I've heard that if you try to drop your laptop from a skyscraper, the battery would be worked off. No, dropping from the top of your lap just wouldn't work.
  7. try these: 1- put your mouse at any empty space on your desktop and right click then properties go to screen saver then click on Power choose Portable/ Laptop from the Power schemes, then go to UPS and read the details there cause here I have a desk computer. 2- if nothing happens after that I think its better to contact the dealer and check with them ... I hope that I help you thanks
