- It depeneds, sometimes hp's are better because you can install more things on them. I don't think you can install Yahoo! Messenger 8.1 or 9.0 beta on a Mac. It is a totally different set up, totally different icons, etc. I would say both are pretty good.
- Apple is better because you can run both Apple's proprietary MacOSX and windows (either XP or Vista). This means that 99% of the software out there (games, applications, utillities) will all work on the Mac as long as you have the right OS installed. (and yes this includes running Yahoo messenger 9.0 beta under Windows if you want too)
- Nina its hard to say because you have to look at the big picture. Apple's software is all proprietary... meaning they own the tecnology and rarely ever allow third party candidates to share it. HP is a very good brand with exceptional screen quality. If you want the freedom to play almost any game and use any programs, the HP's windows might be better suited for you. Ans while it is true that Apple's laptops have the capability to run Windows XP, I wouldn't really bother. Apple's hardware and accessories will also tend to cost more, since they own their technology, while Windows liscences their tech to other companies. Try both and see which if fit for you. Otherwise my answer would be, yes on average the Apple will be better, but more pricier than the HP. But HP gives out many discounts, while Apple usually gives you an Ipod if you're a student. Goodluck!
- Apple runs on the Mac operating system. HP runs on Windows. Basically that is the decision really. Which operating system you prefer. Windows is number 1 among most tech people.
- I would stick with HP.. HP's are made much stonger and durable MAC's are kind of weak.. HP comes with a Microsoft OS which is very user friendly Apple comes with with a STUPID GUI interface. It is very hard to use and is annoying... HP is one of the top brands of computers and HP computer are U.S made
- I don't know about better but certainly expansive if you also want to use ms windows on it! if you use quicktime than you have nothing to fear for addons since quicktime comes from apple..
- It depends on what kind of a computer user you are. If you've already been using a Windows-based computer for a while and are used to the way thinks work on it, you probably want an HP laptop. If you're fairly new to computer and are mainly getting one because you need it for school, or because everyone keeps telling you to get one, an Apple might be better. Most people who are new to computers tend to find Apple's MacOS to be considerably easier to learn than Windows. Most people tend to think it's considerably prettier, too. The downside will be that if most of your friends use Windows... They won't be as able to help you when you have computer questions. But if you have an Apple Store near you, the salespeople there are actually generally a lot more knowledgeable about their products and more willing to help than the salespeople at most Windows-oriented shops. The selection of software available for Macs is also quite different. The poster below who claimed third parties don't have access to Apple's software is completely mistaken -- Apple is actually very friendly to third parties and has even made numerous contributions into the open source community. If you're looking to do something specific, though, the simple fact is that the exact CD burning program you use on Windows may not be available, or the exact program you use to read your Email... So you might have to learn a slightly different one. Mac computers *can* be made to run Windows instead of MacOS, if you genuinely prefer that... But to be honest you could get a computer with equivalent hardware to a Mac from HP that will already come with Windows installed on it for a considerably lower price, if that's what you want. There's also a program called "Parallels Desktop" you can get for your Mac that will allow you to run most Windows programs right along with Mac programs on your Mac... But this is very definitely an "advanced users" function.
