How do I upgrade "BIOS" on my HP laptop computer? Trying to play "Command and Conquer" and my comp shuts down

  1. Your BIOS settings have nothing to do with playing video games.. Basic Input/Output System settings can be "flashed", but you should not have to do so. Are there any errors or other messages before it shuts down? Playing a video game, compatible with your system or not, should never shut down your computer... Cheers
  2. flashing your bios is a bit dangerous. if your shutting down Id bet its a heat issue or you have too many processes running or need a new graphics driver. bios flashes are usually to support a higher cpu that wasnt available at the time your pc was manuf. or something like that. Id try shutting down all unneccesary processes first, then try the graphics driver. if ti still gave me trouble Id consider taking it apart and cleaning it. (be careful)
  3. 1) Go to HP.Com 2) On the left side, choose Software and Driver Downloads 3) Type in your product name OR choose Category > Notebooks 4) Find your model 5) Choose the operating system of your model 6) Scroll down the list until you see BIOS. This will have been the latest BIOS which HP released for your model and operating system. Good luck.
