- yes. you should get the 3 year. laptops are very succeptible to all sorts of damage and malfunction and if its not under warranty you're screwed. the $300 you pay for 3 years warranty will payoff... just think of it as pre-paying an insurance policy.
- its like having a prophylactic, its better to know you have one and not use it than to need it and not have it
- Yes if you have the cash then why not, will save you buying a new one if that breaks down. Some times cd rom drives just stop working the battery doesnt charge properly, the screen stops working. There are all sorts of problems that come with laptops. They are not as easy as a desktop to fix, you'll have to send it to the manufacturer bla bla bla. So yes that warrenty may come in handy
- Congrats on new laptop~ Yes, you will be so happy you did..See if you can add accidential coverage for spillage or dropping it..*%^$ It happens. Good Luck~
- hai buddy see i would not argue tou but as u hvnt mentioned the model number is ahrd to decide the answer to u but warranty is always useful to u in case of urgency and hai u may get mor wen u go to sell it wil get mor than without warranty one and u no wat the exta prise is fare enogh for 2yrs man calculate the total amount and see ifs costly or cheap
- Are you going to move it around a lot? Road warrior? Plan on keeping it for 3+ years? If yes, buy it for peace of mind if you got the scratch. I just got one, but mine is a desktop replacement that is going to sit on my lap as I do stuff watching TV, or on my desk (70+% of the time). I did not get it, and there are several after market plans to look into once the 1 yr warranty runs out.
- i work for hp and i would not recommend it. if you live in canada its 239 for a 1 year extension, 319 for a 2 yr extension, and 489 for a 2 yr extension with accidental damage protection. seriously, only get a 1 year extension if you do. are you really going to want this computer 2 years from now? and im sure by then you can buy a new one for like, 800$. Im guessing you bought a dv9 or something.....anyways....jsut my comment. if you wanna buy one though i can call you-we get credit for sales!!!;)
- yes mine broke within a year
- the computer already has a 1 year warranty from manufacturor so if you need more then yes purchase it.
- In my opinion, I think you should buy the extended warranty. I work as a technician for an authorized HP service center, and we have had so many cases where things go bad or prefail diagnostics detects something going bad, and a warranty period has ended. This is most frusterating for many of the customers I deal with, because they are now looking at repairing it, and having to spend big bucks to do so. And I can attest to the fact that it is bad, because HP charges a small fortune for replacement/spares parts. By the time you add in the labor for the company or the time youve invested into repairing it, with the hope that it actually does fix it (God only knows that there are so many combinations of variables that could cause any one problem, even if the problem may seem obvious!), and if not... well, youve washed your money down the drain. I would also take into account that you spent a grand on a laptop, not exactly a budget laptop that you can pick up from wally world for $400... so there is a good value invested into it, so it seems kind of senseless to throw it all away the moment something happens, and it is going to cost your every bit of what the machine is worth to fix it. Not everyone has that kind of money lying around. One other thing to take into consideration, this goes for any manufacturer, sometimes things happen where something critical fails or breaks on the computer after a period of time, but if the machine is out of warranty, then you as the end user are responsible for fixing it. I will give you an example, the HP Compaq nc4000 series laptop... there was a consumer advisory released to the public about the lcd lid hinges which were weak and were breaking. Service centers were unable to order these parts without purchasing an entirely new lcd panel, until recently when the advisory was published. Now, replacement hinges can be ordered to replace the existing, but most of these machines are out of warranty now, and the customer is expected to pay for them. I know for a fact that this is still a recurring problem, even out of warranty, because I replace these hinges in about 7-10 of the nc4000 notebooks EACH WEEK... and it is not the new ones that are breaking. So be careful when faced with a decision such as this, because you could find it comes back to get you when you least expect it.
