I have a genuine copy of win xp sp1 from my HP laptop. Recently I bought a new desktop and tried to install.?

I tried to install the genuine copy from HP laptop since I already formated it and installed win 98 genuine copy. The problem is my desktop keep prompting validation and I entered the cdkey but failed. Any idea???

1. An OEM copy of Windows is good for installation for one computer only, the original one.
2. I suggest that you call microsoft tech support and try to get them to renew you cd key. this has worked for me in the past even when using a dell cd on an emachines.
3. Don't lose your time trying to install your laptop's copy of Win XP on another laptop or desktop computer coz it comes individually for your laptop,i had the same problem with my TOSHIBA laptop's Windows copy.
