  1. If you handle a lot of media files, then plunge into the world of Apple without a care. If you plan on doing anything else, you still shouldn't worry too much. Only thing to worry about then would be your wallet. The cheapest Mac can handle media such as music, photos and videos very well and organize them and edit them easily. If you want to play games, or do programming (Basically anything else), Apple makes you pay a pretty penny for a nice computer.
  2. Hp have very good notebooks, and have excellent service personal, but while apple may be more expensive, they can only be upgraded with apple components. Hp are very flexible computers (i have one of their compaq's and i haven't had any trouble with it.) Also unless you get a desktop Mac, you have to use the Ctrl + Click to get the right click menu on Apple systems
  3. A MacBook will be able to handle most types of media natively and almost any other type through some sort of plugin. A PC laptop too will be able to run most if not all media by means of some software. I am both a PC and a Mac user and I like them both. But to be perfectly honest, if I were in the market for a laptop, I'd go with a Mac. The new Macs will come pre-installed with Leopard which includes Bootcamp. Bootcamp allows you to install and run Windows natively. That would allow you the best of both worlds. The safety and usability of Mac OSX and the expansive library of software that is available for PCs. Keep in mind that cost may be prohibitive. I do not know your financial situation, but largely a MacBook will cost more than a PC laptop. I love my Mac and I love my PC. But again, since a MacBook can run both Mac OSX and Windows XP or Vista natively, you get the best of both worlds.
  4. The other Mac advantage, no MacOs X viruses/adware or malware. So you can open the files your PC friends may send you and not worry. There are over 115,000 Windows viruses.
  5. ok, in hp laptops, your configuration and customization options are much better, the media remote stores in the laptop, you will have latest processors if you go for latest models, you will spend less money. Macs have a better os. Both have reasonably priced replacement parts (ie batteries), both have a poor cooling designs (run hot). Apple has much better support (u speak to someone in america), hp's support is outsourced garbage
