What is the difference between base and recommended configuration for hp laptops?
I am thinking of getting a Hp Pavilion dv6700z and just building it from one of the two configurations. (leaning towards base, it's cheaper lol) I'm not a gamer or graphic designer. I want to get a laptop for school work and internet and some entertainment like music and movies. Oh and as for processers im going to upgrade that and my hard drive.

- Your question if kind of vague, but I am guessing that the "Base" model is of one configuration and from there you can customize different aspects of the computer. Most likely the base computer is cheaper because it has parts that are not as good as another configuration. (Ex.: 2.2 Ghz processor vs. 2.6 Ghz Processor).
- The base models are good but the are set to what the minimum is required for the system the recommended is a setup that will give you alot of room for expansion of the type of use you can use it for but if you are looking at price and are not a gamer or graphic designer go for the base with an upgrade in ram just to give you some room and if you can afford it upgrade that processor a bit.
- As far as I know, the difference differs from software to software.
- In short…the base model is what gets you interested because it’s a low price (e.g. Starting at only $999.99!). Recommended and above is where they charge you outrageous amounts to “upgrade”. It’s a marketing scheme. Deals of America and Tech Bargains [link] catch good deals on HP and Dell’s and sometimes you can get like $500 off!
