HP Laptops...good time to buy new? vista compatible?
I am thinking about building a dv6000 series laptop from hp website. they don't mention anything about being vista compatible or not. I have been given advice to get the AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Mobile processor is now a bad time to buy? wait a few months?

- hp are good. but desktop pc is far better
- Whatever you do, don't get that processor. Always look for the Intel Centrino Duo Technology laptops. As you can tell, the AMD Turion's are always about $200 - $700 cheaper. Unless you dont need it for everyday use or work, then go woth the cheaper one.
- get it with core 2, its faster, and you should get a graphics card with it. and now they are offering a free upgrade to vista. if you buy home edition, you get home basic. if you get media center edition, you get home premium, and if you get professional, you get business.
- as long as the "Desinged for Windows Xp" case badge says Vist acompatible, it's great! And yes, the websitye does say Vista compatible (see below)
- Personally prefer the Intel Core 2 Duo or Intel Pentium M. I have a HP desktop with the Intel Core 2 Duo and a Compaq laptop, manufactured by HP, with an Intel Pentium M. No problems. It is never a good or bad time to buy ... you buy it today and tomorrow there is a newer, better, faster one. Technology is faster than we can afford. Research the web, educate yourself, look for one that fits your needs and your wallet, and if you found your brand and model shop around for the price. If you are patient, Christmas time would be a good time, more choices, sales, extras, etc. I would not wait for Vista, it can take another 6 months and than you hope it all works smooth and don't have to daily download patches. I just bought a new HP desktop with all the bells and whistles, by the time the HP is getting 'slow', I'm ready for Window Vista Capable.
- If I were you, I would wait for the Vista pre-installed laptop which would have more than enough hardware power to operate Vista.
