How to replace a removed key on the keyboard of my HP Pavilion zv5000 laptop?

When I placed a notebook on my laptop, it accidently removed one of the keys on my HP Pavilion zv5000 laptop. I tried to put it back, but Im having a hard time. Ive called customer support but they said I would have to buy a new laptop so they were of no help to me. Are there any tricks or tips that will help me put back the key into the keyoard? THanks.

  1. They sell keys in electronic shops or you could but 1 online like E-bay .
  2. you will have to do a little reverse engineering. take a close look at the key. Is it entact or is it broken. If it is broken then you need a new key. If it is entact then maybe you snap it back in place. Most often the keys go in one end first then snap in place. Look for a lip that may fit one way and one way only. then press down if it snaps in place your done. If it doesn't snap in place take another look and try laying down a diffent side and try again. Good luck
  3. Look on the back of the key for slots or grooves. Look on the keyboard for slots or grooves. Try to figure out if there's a way that they lock or twist and lock or what ever. Or are the tabs, grooves slits or what ever broken?
