as soon as i start my laptop (hp pavilion )...a window pops up saying "restart the program?

when ever i start my laptop hp pavilion dv2701tu ..a window pops up saying "restart the the program"---windows explorer has stopped working ....i cant access any drive or start icon as well .pls let me know if its a minor sw problem or should i take it to a hp service centre .....
