Can an HP Printer/Scanner work with other laptops?
I bought an HP Printer/Scanner when I bought my HP laptop but I'm trading my HP to my dad and getting a more portable, cheaper laptop for college so I was wondering if that printer/scanner can work with my laptop? I'm almost positive that it can but I just wanted to make sure since I don't want to buy a new printer when I have a perfectly good one right now.

- Your printer should work with other computers. I'm assuming it has a USB plug in? Any computer you buy should install the drivers you need (or your printer may have come with those already).
- It will work great for you so long as you have the right drivers. If your old HP used Windows XP, you may need drivers for Windows Vista which can be downloaded from the HP site is all. Although you can also try the drivers on the CD that came with the printer.
- yes it can otherwise it would be very assinying lol
- yes just keep the cd you used to install the printer to your hp laptop and use it to install it to your other laptop or computer....the installation will happen on its own once the cd and the printer is connected....i have a dell desktop and a photosmart hp all in one printer...hope this helps
- Well not every printer works with every computer. I have a HP printer myslef and i use vista. Even the cd they gave me is useless since vista does not support the drivers the printer has. You can go to www.hp.com to check if your printer drivers. This is the best way to do it.
- As long as that Laptop is not Win 98. I'm sure you can download the drivers from the HP website. In case you don't have the cd anymore. go to www.hp.com type on the search bar your printer model click software and driver downloads then choose your Operating System then choose either full feature driver/software or basic, then download or save. One thing to take note of is not to plug in the usb. Do it once prompted by the installtion screen. Goodluck!
