Dell Vostro 1400 vs HP Pavillion DV6605US?

I'm trying to find a good laptop for under $600. The two I currently have my eye on, Dell Vostro 1400 for $599 Intel Core 2 Duo T5270 (1.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache) 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz 120GB 5400RPM Hard Drive 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8400M GS HP Pavillion DV6605US on sale for $549 AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core TK55 (1.8GHz/800Mhz FSB/512Kb cache) 1GB DDR2 SDRAM 160GB 5400RPM Hard Drive Nvidia GeForce Go 7150M The Dell has more RAM and a better video card, but is the CPU better? I've heard that Intel Duo 2's are far better than Athlons but it's a bit slower. The $50 I would save on the HP would also allow me to go buy another 1GB stick of RAM, and it comes with a bigger hard drive. Which is the better computer? Also, do you know of any other good laptops for under $600?

  1. I'm gonna make a suggestion to you. Go to outlet.dell.com and find a PC off there. I got my PC a couple of months ago off there and it's better than the Dell AND HP you have there for LESS. It was refurbished so that explains why I got it for such a good deal. So look on there to save a few hundred. If you're worried about it being refurbished they come with warranties.
  2. The Dell Vostro is the clear winner. Better CPU Core 2 Duo's has 2mb cache vs the Athlon X2 only per core 512kb cache Better GPU The Geforce 8400 supports, DX10.0, The GeForce 7150 is only DX9.0c and really slow More Ram I'm guessing Vista Is OS, if so Vista will devourer only 1gb on Ram, Having 2gigs is the sweet spot Hoped I've Helped :D
  3. In my opinion, the HP Pavillion DV6605US is better than the Dell Vostro 1400.
