Is there a way to tell if a Dell 3100cn laser printer fuser assembly is bad?

When I print, the right side of the page has a 1" blank area that goes all the way down the page. Other than that the print is normal.

1. check to see if the toner around the 1" comes off if you rub it. also if the fuser is damaged the 1" blank tends to look messy, if the blank has clean/sharp edges it may be the drum/developing unit
