Is this typical Lexmark "quality"?
Hello, A little under a year ago (December 2006) I purchased a new Lexmark E232 monochrome laser printer. This week the thing just stopped working. I contacted Lexmark technical support and they diagnosed that the controller board within the printer needs to be replaced -- at my expense. The printer diagnostics sheet indicates that this printer has only printed a total of 439 pages -- less than a ream of paper! Is this typical of Lexmark products? Right now I'm really wishing I had purchased an HP.

- My Lexmark X75 quit on me too. They stink. Im definitly going to something else.
- I don't want to badmouth Lexmark, but I use and recommend HP printers to my customers.
- yep, it is. lexmark are junk. i have a nice all-in-1 printer. it prints super nice pics, but when you pay as much for ink as what the unit cost well it's rediculouse. go with HP. they garruntee there ink and everything else. they care about their products.
- I use HP and Epson myself. Lexmark seems to stink as a lot of their printers still dont have drivers for Vista when the rest of the companies pretty much have Vista covered. I've never had a Lexmark but, from what i hear about them, I dont think i ever will. Microsoft contacted Lexmark in November, 2006 requesting Vista drivers for certain printers and they still dont have drivers out for them, some pretty spendy all-in-ones too!
- i recently bought a lexmark replacing my old lexmark which i thought the paper wouldnt work and the ink ran out if i didnt use it for a while because it was old. but this new one i purchased isnt that different from my old lexmark. thats why im never gonna buy a lexmark ever again after this printer.
- Lexmark used to be a good brand of printer...but that's before IBM sold off it's printer division. Now, Lexmark has reduced itself to the cheap crap that you'd buy at Walmart. Even it's larger laser printers, aimed at the corporate market, don't last nearly as long as it's competition, and only sell well because the initial cost is far less than a comparable HP, Epson, or Brother printer. Next time you get a printer, spend a little more and get a HP, Brother, or Konica-Minolta. Or get a Samsung, an Epson, or a Canon. Just please don't waste money on another POS Lexmark.
- YES!!!!! I hate that company!!!!!!! I bought like 5 of those and they stopped working
- I had a customer the other day who had the exact same experience as you, except he managed to print 600 sheets before his died. Avoid Lexmark. They're garbage. I recommend HP and Konica Minolta.
