how do i fix lexmark E220, low toner and error light up, have new toner cartridge.?

I have a Lexmark E220 laser printer that reads Toner Low and Error but have a new cartridge in the printer. Is there an INEXPENSIVE way to fix this or should I just freecycle it?

1. Ok, first take out the catridges, turn off the printer for a minute, then turn it on with out the catridges, it´ll detect that doesn´t have the catridges, the put them back and see what happens.
