Inkjet vs. Laser printers?
i'm going to buy a printer very soon, and I just don't know which type to buy. my most recent printer is a laser, which i absolutely love, but it's quite expensive. i have used an inkjet printer, but that was when i was really young, and i can't really remember anything about it. the reason why i'm deciding on an inkjet is that they're SOO much cheaper on the market right now. (i saw an all-in-one inkjet for about 70 bucks!!) i'm only going to use printers for school purposes (printing lecture notes etc.) so i, along with my sister, on average print about 1000 pages per term and i am not looking for colour prints, only black and white. i tried calculating the cost per pages and stuff, and they come up to be about the same price. (4 cents/page vs. 6 cents/page) I REALLY don't know which type to buy. i know lasers have much better quality...but i really don't care about quality too much (since i'm only going to be reading the notes myself) any help is appreciated=) thanks you guys for the suggestions... i still don't know which type to buy tho...lol for inkjets, is it a bad idea to refill them? my friends who have inkjets, buy these bottles (about $20), and they refill the cartridge instead of buying a new cartridge (which costs about 50$$). hmm........

- I prefer Laser.. They're just quicker for me.
- A cheap laserjet will give you more than the quality you need. You can print perfect quality photos on a cheap laserjet, so crappy school notes will be a doddle. Also, set the default print mode to "fast draft" or something similar to extend the life of the cartridge.
- just get an inkjet since quality aint important and u can get ink cheap at 123inkjets.com or some site similar (they sell reproduced versions of the cartrige)
- Ink jets are more economical (as far as cartridge/toner replacements). The quality of inkjet is very close to laser. Lasers generally print faster, but you pay for that in the ink cost replacements.... So if you're not going to be printing off many copies over and over, then inkjet is the way... If you're looking for printing many copies and as fast as possible, then laser is best.
- I would just go with inkjet. If you dont care about quality then it doesnt matter since there really isnt that much difference. I have an hp printer and its amazing but mine is used for photos also but none the less, I think the quality of my printer is actually better than a laser printer when printing out just word documents.
- its adviseable to use inkjet printer for colour printing..where else if its jas to print notes, thn go for laser printer...inkjet printers cartridges r much more xpensive thn laser.
- Get a laser printer they last longer they are faster there ink dont dry. you can get a laser printer now for about 100 buck. when the toner end buy a new printers not the new toner .. coz they make money in toner. same goes for inkjet but inkjet have more problem where if it get dry or get dust it wont print proper and take so long .. if you dont need color get laser. if you live in Canada get one from Staples :P they have this plan for abt 10$ anything goes wrong they will give you new one when you get that when toner end take them and say u got problem they will give you new one for free but this thing only work with laser printer:P
