When it comes to printing text, which type of printer is better, ink jet or cheaper laser?

For quality, sharpness, fine/super-fine print, no pixel/rough looks around the edges of text. Will the Epson C87 Ink Jet Printer work with a computer that has MS Vista installed on it?

  1. laser printers work best but they are expensive. ink jet printers do the job well and are inexpensive. if you are wanting to print out pix i wouldnt go with a laser. they both do a fine job its just about how much money you want to spend.
  2. If you print text only, get a laser printer. They are pretty cheap nowadays and they are fast. The toner cartridges usually last for up to 3000 to 5000 prints, whereas ink cartridges on inkjets won't last that long. In the long run, you'll spend a lot more on ink cartridges for an inkjet, then you would spend on the laser printer. With laser, you will get sharp/crisp text, without any pixelation. As for the Epson C87 compatibility with Vista, yes, it will work. The C87 drivers are actually included on the Vista CD.
  3. Laser is a lot better, but the start up cost is more than the ink printer, but the cost per page is cheaper with the laser
  4. Laserjet printer is the best printer so far. It is economical and faster compared to the Hp-Deskjet
  5. Cost per Copy. Most of your ink jet cartridges are going to get about 400 prints for an average cost of $30.00. On the laser side your going to get 2,000 or more for $80.00 ($40. is you use remanufactored) Do the math. Also, inkjets for the most part are a "throw away", not worth repair if something goes wrong. I call them the 21st century rip off. Your quality is going to be the same.......but if you have to have color then your talking much more money for laser, but still cheaper to operate than ink.
