Will someone please explain to me what the specifications of toner/consumables for laser-jet printers mean?

"Consumable: single toner catridge Type: 3000 sheets @ IDC 5% Coverage Consumable :1,000 sheets starter." What is the difference between @ IDC 5% and sheet starter? Thanks a bunch! I've got a samsung printer.

1. It means that the starter cartridge you got with your printer, has enough toner to print 1,000 pages at 5% coverage. Your replacement cartridges that you will buy, will yield 3,000 pages at 5% coverage. 5% of a page isn't a whole heck of a lot, so don't expect to use up 2 pkgs of paper with your starter cartridge.
