need help buying a printer please?

planning to purchase a deskjet color printer. looking to spend at most $200, no more, prefferably less. i know when you buy a computer, it comes with free color printers. but those printers run outta ink quick and those things are way expensive. so any suggestions for a printer with these specs that dont eat up ink so fast or ones that have inexpensive ink cartridge replacements. thanks

  1. My advice would be to shop for a printer that has individual ink tanks (or cartridges). When one goes empthy you have only to replace one color instead of throwing out 2 colors as would be the case with a tri-color ink cartridge. I own a Canon Pixma and it has 6 inkd tanks, Y, C, M, BK, PM, PC. I refill them no more than 3 times each, then toss them and install a new one. Compatable cartridges are available for as little as $2 on the internet, whereas the manufacturers cartridges ran about $11 each. The manufacturer of course tells you the compatables won't work, and they will void the warranty, but after you prove the printer good with the included 'starter' cartridges, then switch to compatable.. I've had no problems. Good luck searching and Happy Computing!
  2. Greetings, Buying a printer is a personal choice. I do a lot of photography printing and I have always perferred Epson. The Epson photo printers do a great job when using their own paper. Most printers use a lot of ink if you have heavy coverage. I like the printers who have ink cartridges for the dedicated color. My printer has 5 individual ink cartridges. Each ink color cost about $14.00 per. Some people perfer the laser printers for getting more pages per cartridge but those printers tend to be more expensive and the cartridge is more expensive. Most printers will use more ink if you print more image. Hope this helps, Zorro.
  3. The best ink printer on the market is the Canon ip 4300, this printer has won the consumer report award for printer of the year, no one can beat it, if you get the ink refill kit you will save some money and it is not hard for that printer, I have worked on all of the ink printers and I still use my Canon BJC 4300 and the printer is 14 years old, I refill cartridges for 20 years and repair it myself it works like new, hope this helped and good luck
