What does the transfer roller do on my Xerox 6200 Color Laser Printer?

Basically, I'm getting a notification that my transfer roller has reached end of life and I was curious as to what it does, and whether or not it is important for me to replace it right away or if it can wait a while. The prints (both color and b&w) seem to print just fine as it is right now.

  1. For Xerox, I believe the transfer roller is a magnetic or sticky roller that distributes the toner onto the drum, which then puts that toner onto the paper. If your prints are fine then replacement can wait. It is not something which will break down suddenly or run out of anything except toner. It is a wear and tear item that slowly deteriorates with use. If you are happy with your printouts, then you don't have to replace it.
