Poor Print Quality HP 1012?
I have a HP 1012 Laser Printer. I've only had it short time (bought used off eBay). The print quality has gotten really poor. Streaky, blotchy, etc. I also have major problems with printing envelopes. It's like it's not fusing the toner to the envelope, the toner flakes off. Plus the streaks and lines, etc. The Quality is so poor that I am embarassed to send things out printed with this printer. I just replaced the toner so I don't think that's the problem. Is there something wrong with the drum? The fuser (since it's not fusing the toner to envelopes, but the paper is fine except for streaks and lines). I only bought this printer a month ago and it worked fine at first but it's gradually gotten worse (especially after I put in the new toner cartridge). The new toner cartridge came with the printer and it brand new in the HP box. It looks like a HP brand toner.

- Hi, assumed u bought original toner from hp? If it is not original toner (3rd party), the properties may not have been formulated to fit the printer technical design properly. So the fusing temperatures, etc may be different, hence the poor quality. Also, remanufactured toner often does not replace all the components (drum, rollers, blades) so the streaks and blotches may be due to the toner leaking and parts giving out.
- I stashed this link for exactly these situations. Take a look through the images to find one that matches what you're seeing in the printed pages. Click the image to see the diagnosis and recommended solutions. Bookmark this one!! Consider buying a new printer before you spend a heap of dough replacing parts on the old one. With some of the new HP laser printers costing less than $100.00 and with the availability of low priced replacement toner cartridges, you really can't go wrong.
