What are the numbers on Ink Cartridges?
When you buy HP ink cartridges they come as 95 Black or 99 Black, etc. What exactly do the numbers mean? Are the dpi's?

- I dunno, but mine has a 2203900039948884773667 and one with letters that are real small: 67d67s
- The numbers usually denote the amount of ink in it, if they are applicable for the same machine. The 99 probably has 10ml of ink, whereas the 95 might have 5ml of ink in it.
- the different numbers fit different machines. some numbers are for color and others for black and white. some are also a higher quality for photo printing. if you are needing to know exactly which number to purchase for your specific printer, you can look that info up on hp.com or see if there is any info on the machine itself.
- The different numbers refer to the different types of cartridges. Although they look pretty much identical, ink cartridges are extremely different. Just stick with the number of cartridge that came with the printer originally. Some cartridges are interchangeable but ask at the store if they are just to make sure.
- If the numbers 95 and 99 are for the same size black, then one if for "regular printing" and the other is "photo printing". If, however the two cartridgesare of different size then the numbers are there for identification of that difference. Hope this helps. If you have those cartridges in front of you the differences would be immediately apparent.
