Hp laptop: software and accessory question? Hi. So, I decided to get a HP laptop over a Toshiba. The only thing is that the Toshiba had 'Toshiba face recognition software". My question is: Is there a face recognition software that works for any notebook that I can buy for my HP? Also what is the cheapest price you can find for a fingerprint reader (that you can connect to your laptop externally)? Please provide a link or name the store. I think that the microsoft finger print reader generally costs the least but I want to know what store or website sells it the cheapest. try to make sure the website is a trustworthy one. =] THANK YOU!

Customizing an HP laptop..? Consumer Reports said that the HP dv9700t is a great laptop, so I went on the site and decided to see what this laptop has to offer. I use a lot of big programs like The Sims 2 (and soon to be The Sims 3), Adobe Photoshop, ect all while running ITunes, and a few internet explorers, so I need a fast computer. How are these for settings? Any recommendations? (As it is, the computer will cost me approx 1600$, but I have added quite a few accessories.) Is there anything that I should upgrade, or downgrade? How can I find out if a laptop I purchase is a new one or a renewed one? I intend to buy a laptop for my gf and I found a HP laptop that seems perfect for the job. The vendor told me it's brand new...Still Is there a way to find out if isn't? I ask because I know HP has that renew program where older laptops are re-manufactured and sold at smaller price with the same accessories and warranty as new ones.

Accessories for a laptop? I'm planning on purchasing a laptop, and I was wondering what kind of accessories are good to buy along with it. Aside from the obvious choices, should I buy an ethernet cable hub, or does wireless access come standard in the machine? (I'm looking at an HP, if that makes a difference)
Best HP Pavilion laptop to get? I need one that has a good amount of RAM seeing as how I want to put various programs on it such as iTunes, Photoshop, etc, and I need it to have all the Microsoft Accessories: Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and of course FireFox. Any suggestions, please?
How do I connect my HP G60-519WM to my TV? I have a HP G60-519WM laptop that I would like to connect to my TV to watch videos. If I'm correct, the laptop has a VGA port. My HD TV has a S-Video Port. What specific accessories do I need to successfully connect my laptop to the TV? Thanks.
My HP Laptop will not start. The screen will not even turn on.? Here's what happens when i press the power button. Within seconds of starting the DVD Drive starts to spin and then stop. The Fan then turns on for a few seconds and then stops suddenly. Then the computer just sits there without the hard drive spinning. All the lights to the drives and accessories are lit (DVD Drive, Mouse, Keyboard, And Card Reader) which is extremely unusual. This entire time the screen never displays anything. After about 30 seconds the computer restarts and the cycle starts again. I have tried pressing f12 on start up and trying everything i could think of to get at least the OS to load but i got nothing. I know this is a very strange situation but i really just need to get on the computer. I'm running Vista btw. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 3-year-old laptop. should I buy more accessories? I have an HP that I bought 3 years ago. every 6 months or so, I have to replace the laptop charger and the battery every 8 -12 month. and now I have to replace both the battery and laptop charger. this laptop cost me about 750.00 back then. do you think I should just [replace the laptop] before spending another 200 dollars (plus I need to go get the vents cleaned out so maybe another 100) (user )Laptop Repair : thanks so much for the advice. do you recommend I get a new $350 laptops (im going to have to pay around this much anyway for the Accessories for this laptop I have now ) or should I just stick with this one that seems to run smoothly aside from the failed accessories (of course, after strictly following your advice )
Need to know if Philips Screen cleaning Gel can be used on my laptop screen? Its an HP Pavilion dv7-2180us? I got it from Wall-mart, its in a clear bottle with like a blue liquid, and comes with a Non-abrasive, lint-free reusable microfiber cloth. Here's a link to what it looks like: http://www.consumer.philips.com/c/tv-and-monitor-accessories/plasma-lcd-svc2543w_10/prd/gb/ Also I want Logical answers, not answers like "Use Bleach or Windex" Windex and bleach have chemicals that will ruin your screen, such as Ammonia. I'm just wondering if this Gel would be safe for my laptop though, thanks in Advance
How to plug my laptop into my TV ? I have a HP pavilion laptop. I have all the accessories I need to plug it into my TV. I click on Fn+f4 (twice, dunno why) and the screens switch but I just have the sound, it doesn't display the image. I tried with a video from abc.com for example and then with a DVD but it didn't work either. What should I do ? Somewhere I read to click on Fn+f7 but it doesn't change anything for me, I think f7 and f8 are for the screen light, aren't they ? Thanks for your help.
How laptop brands differ? All the laptop companies like Dell, Lenovo, Hp, etc buy their mother board, processor and other accessories from Intel, AMD, etc. When checked the configuration most of the laptops have same motherboard and processor. Then how can we say that one brand gives better performance than others ? Like we say Lenovo or Dell is best and gives excellent performance? Please say how a brand is best even when they have same motherboard and processor purchased from other companies
I wanna be nice but she is mad!? my friend needs a new laptop so my friends and i decided to all pitch in money together to get her one for her birthday. the thing is we have been going through some issues and i still want to be friends with her so i have a few questions 1. we cam up with about $500 but want to use some of the money for laptop accessories. i heard the HP laptop model 2009-219DX was good, but i dont know for sure. is it good or bad? cuz i dont wanna give her something bad and then she gets more mad at me. 2. will it look like im trying to buy back the friendship? she really needs a new laptop and i thought it would be nice to give her something she really needs, but i dont want her to say "money doesnt buy friendship" and get all mad. please help! her birthday is soon!
Which laptop should I choose? I don't speak laptop language so I was hoping that maybe someone could translate for me. I've saved 1000 dollars for a laptop (I know, I'll need more for accessories and such and I plan on saving another 500 or so.) I was thinking that a HP laptop would be the best decision (I know a couple people who own one) I'm not sure what anything means though, it's too technical on the website and I don't understand (Being the computer failure that I am). So do you think that you could tell me what to look for in a laptop. Thanks!

I want to buy a laptop, please help me giving suggestion about the brand--? HP DELL ACER ASUS TOSHIBA SONY SAMSUNG FUJITSU GATEWAY One thing is not clear to me in case of Laptop that is; when configuration is same then why people chase for brand with high price. For example-- Processor “Intel core i3”, Mother Board “Intel”, 2 valuable parts are of Intel Company and also other accessories are almost same. Can anybody give me a clarification? Thanks a lot.
Looking to buy an HP Laptop... What model for me? Hey guys, I found a used month old hp dv2310ca laptop. I want to use the laptop for basically high-school. Just for notes and internet surfing and maybe some movie/music. But is this model a "good" model to get? The guy said he bought it for $1600, may include warranty and accessories in that too though. HES SELLING IT FOR $500
What is the best gaming notebook/laptop or what specs make it great? I'll start by giving you a list of what I've found regarding specs and then the most notebook (and accessories) for the best price and then can you tell me what you think? 100+ GB Hard Drive 2+ GB RAM 512+ MB video card (which brand is best?) 2+ GHZ processor I've found HP, IBM Lenovo, Compaq, and Fujitsu to be the most notebook for the best price. What do you think? The game I play the most is World of Warcraft. My husband and I have become such complete WoW nerds that we must have a spare computer and get a new account for me (transferring my characters of course). We already have a desktop, that's why I'm looking for a laptop. This is also so we can play on vacation... except for our anniversary, I have to put my foot down there ;-)
What do they really delete? De-Bloating a Brand New Laptop? So I just came home from my local Future Shop and bought a brand new HP Laptop! woooooooo! :D When I was in the store they asked be if I wanted to purchase their service that they offer and they will make a back up disc and delete any of the add programs that come with your laptop. I said no because I thought I could figure it out myself... I have already made a back up disc.. but want to know what exactly they delete when they de bloat your computer. There aren't really alot of icons on the desktop except for an EBAY thing and a Shop for Accessories button... which are useless... MOST ANNOYING THING is the stupid HP Smart print thing that pops up whenever you open an internet window.. i would please like that thing to die... Any ideas?
Laptop Suggestions for University? I'm starting university in September and I would like to get a laptop. I know practically nothing about computers, so I figured I'd ask for some help. I want a laptop that is reasonably priced. Around 15 inches is a perfect size. It should be thin and lightweight. I want it to have DVD/CD ROM drive (I think that's what it's called). If it came with a webcam, that would be nice. I don't know what this means, but one of my friends told me to get an "N" over a "G" with regards to wireless internet I believe? One that has a long battery life. It should have tons of memory and a decent graphics card. And one of my friends told me to get one that is compatible with many different types of printers and accessories. so I'm not limited to just one certain brand or anything, My dad also wants me to get one with security features. One that looks pretty would be nice too, but that's at the very end of the list. Lol! I've heard good things about HP laptops (especially the Pavillions) but I am on their website and I find it so confusing because I really don't know anything about computers. I just want one that could do all the things I need it to. I really just want a decent laptop that will last me a long time (I want it to last *at least* for the four years of my schooling). I live in Canada, so it has to be one that is available here. I do not like Macs. I've used them before and I know they're great, but I just can't get used to them. I'm more comfortable with a PC. I've been checking websites and flyers for Best Buy and Future Shop, but like I said, because I don't really understand the terminology and stuff, it's hard for me to tell which computer is the best for me. Thank you very much for the help. :)
Laptop Extras! I just want to know what I can get rid off, and will it harm my laptop, or make it faster? Hey, well I got my laptop around xmas time. It has all of these pointless short cuts on it, like, yahoo, napster, download games, hp accessories, prepare this pc for kids, etc... You get it. When I go to the start menu and search, e.g prepare this pc for kids, it will come up, so it's in the menu, but when I go on like uninstall a program, it isn't in the list, so does that mean, that if I delete the short cut, it will just be gone, and won't make a difference? I just don't want to mess up my pc! =[ Please help, are all these shortcuts pointless? THANKS XXX Love Jade x
HP notebook: software and accessory question? =]
Should i get a laptop with a dual core processor or spend an extra $100 for an i3 processor? I'm getting an HP laptop, for $500 I can get one with a dual core processor and 4 GB ram but that includes a case, printer, and flash drive. Or for $600 I can get the same model, except it would have 6 GB ram and an i3 processor. But it wouldn't include the printer or any other accessories. I'm not too worried about the printer, I never print things anyway. And I can always just buy a case and a flash drive. They're pretty cheap. This computer has to last me a while, so I kind of think it would be worth it just to pay the extra $100 for the i3 with 6 GB ram, but I don't know. I could use the $100 to buy something else. I just don't know lol, which one would you get? The more expensive one or the cheaper one?
Will a HP HDX 18t Premium series fit in the HP Executive Leather Carrying Case? The case was one of those offered in the accessories section of the "customize and buy" thing. Sorry I'm not wording this fantastically. Anyway, I got the bag and my laptop should be coming next week, just want to make sure I don't need to return it. The case looks big enough to hold the laptop, but I just want to double check. Can anyone give me a definate answer?

Will this battery fit my laptop? I have an HP Pavilion dv7-4177 laptop which came with a 9-cell Li-Ion battery, and I'm thinking of also keeping a 12-cell on hand. Need help with laptops? I'm going to be going to college next year and my Dad and I are looking into laptops. I'm going to be paying for most of it. I have a quite a lot of questions because this is somewhat of a big thing and need help looking for a nice one. I'm not a complete techno-tard and I do know a lot about computers but not much about laptops/desktops. Also I'm going to be using this laptop as practically a home computer but only for myself. -Price range: I don't want to be spending over 1500-1800 dollars -Size: I'm not into those small laptops but then again I don't want a huge bulky one. I'm thinking a decent sized screen yet not too heavy and easily can fit in a bag to carry with books and such. -Performance: I'm not looking for a huge amount of storage but I am looking for great performance and a decent amount of RAM and all the good stuff. I plan to use this laptop for everything (Some games online, art, projects, video editing, etc.) -Brand: Doesn't really mean much to me but the performance and durability does. I don't really want a Dell but my dad is able to get a small discount if I do. I don't know if that's worth it though. I also heard HP has nice laptops. -Accessories: USB ports, CD drives, webcam for skyping with my old high school friends, etc. -WiFi: I really don't know much about this but I need to know a lot about it. That's all I can think of for now, but if you need any additional information I can edit this post. Thanks
Can't find a laptop accessory!? I am looking for a silicone laptop cover, if they even make them! I have an HP Pavillion dv6z series. I want to say it's 16 or 16.1 inches. Anyways, if anyone knows where I could get one, I would really appreciate it! Thanks
New hard drive for laptop? My laptop hard drive is filling up quickly, which made me think I probably want to upgrade in the near future to a larger size (my current one is 320GB). You see, I'm a fairly heave iTunes user, with some HD tv shows and movies, and I also like to import my CDs using apple lossless, which results in pretty large file sizes. My question is, how much performance gain would i notice by going from 5400 RPM to 7200? Also, does any hard drive work with any laptop? The one I'm looking at is http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?sku=A2340540&cs=04&c=us&l=en&dgc=SS&cid=52102&lid=1342490. Would this work with my HP G60 laptop? I suppose I should also mention that I do some light gaming on my laptop, such as The Orange Box.
Compare Dell vs. HP, will give 100 points.? Hi, please tell me which laptop should I pick. I tried to look at the specifications, one has Dual core and one does not. I am a student and need laptop for music, school projects, watching videos etc. Also plz tell me if their prices are fair and they are not cheating me. Laptop to HDTV, using wireless N router? Hi I have Samsung LCD HDTV( LA46A650), Belkin wireless N router and HP dv9507tx laptop with HDMI out. I want to use my HDTV as a monitor for my laptop. I know to how to and have done it by connecting via HDMI cable. Now that I have got a Wireless N router, can anyone suggest me a way to achieve the same wireless way. What accessories do I need to establish this? Additional info: I have Onkyo reciever 606 whose HDMI out is given to HDTV's input. I have two HDMI inputs to the Receiver one from PS3 and another from philips upscaling DVD player. I am looking for a receiver which can receive the display data from my laptop via Wireless N router and has an HDMI out that can be given to my onkyo receiver's input. I am from India . So please suggest solutions available in India for this. Please suggest me the cheapest solution available. That laptop is wifi and bluetooth enabled.
My laptop has Bluetooth, my new TV has Bluetooth, can I send the video/audio to my TV? First, excuse if this is a dumb question! I have no experience of Bluetooth at all! I have just bought an LG LCD TV, and I notice it has a Bluetooth setting. My HP Laptop also apparently has Bluetooth built in. I have successfully plugged a cable from the video OUT on my laptop into the TV, but I want to know if I can send the signal wirelessly using Bluetooth? Or do I need to buy some accessory?

First time buying a laptop, what options should I choose and why? I am currently looking on Hp.com at a HP pavilion dv6700t. I am including a 1 yr extended HP warranty with accident drop fix, return and replace. due to the large expense. But have very little money and can not get a credit card. I use the internet, messengers and load photos. Not too big on games and I do alot of my bills and keep track of my finances thru Quicken. I also tend to download programs from the internet. I do word documents and microsoft works and apply for jobs as well as resumes. Yes, I have researched questions and answers about computers but STILL dont understand everything. I do know AMD is cheaper but more for games and Intel is more expensive and is faster. Main questions I have are how much memory do i need, hard drive space, processor(s) and what type of Internet networking connection should I choose and why? Best laptop for college? College life, fun...I need advice on which laptop to buy, I've done my research in fact I've done tons of it. And I have a general idea of what I want/need the laptop to have, but I'm not sure about the best brand, best screen size, most affordable, which is lighter in weight. And that snazzy stuff that counts. Here's what I want/need -17 in or 15.4 widescreen -Under $1000 or $1200 -I'll be traveling a lot before school starts so I want it to be light weight, but still have all the components -I was thinking HP or Dell, MAYBE Mac -I'll have music, pictures, videos, general school stuff + more -A 120 to 160 gb storage [correct me if I'm wrong please] -Built in web cam if possible -DVD/CD burner [if that exists on a new model] I'll be using it 95% of the time, and I'll be traveling a lot. So I don't want it to be super heavy, and oh tips on buying an afforable backpack and accessories for the laptop? Thanks a lot^^

HP Pavilion tx1000 touchscreen or Dell Inspiron 1521? I'm buying a laptop for college this fall, but I'm having trouble deciding which one to get! I thought I had my mind made up with the HP, but then I got a catalog in the mail from Dell. I love the swivel touchscreen, fingerprint reader, handwriting recognition software, etc. from HP, but I also love the colors, options, and accessories from Dell. I looked at both of their sites, and they'd both come down to about the same price, so I can't use a price factor. Can anyone help?

I am a college student so i might occasionally play games, but mostly i am gonna be using the internet, watching streaming videos and movies etc. I know i am gonna be using the aero interface for sure, i am just wondering if these specs would future proof it for at least my next 4 years in college. its just that i wanna use windows vista and i don't know if there is anything in those specs that i can take off to make it cheaper, but still useful for the next few years........
