Do color printers pull ink from the color cartridge to make black? I know there are two cartridges but my Canon Pixma MP150 goes through color ink at an amazing rate. I use it strictly for business printing and on the rare occasion that I need color, it for my business cards only which have only a fine green line on them. That is the only color. If this is the case, can I run the printer with only the b/w cartridge and put the color in as needed?
What are the color printers that use "wax" for ink called? I need to buy a printer for my company that is economical. I used to work for a place that used a printer utilizing wax cubes for ink. You could literally get 1000's of color images from one set of wax cubes. I have no idea what they are called. Does any one know and also if you do know, what one would you recommend?
What is the best color printer for home use? Or what is the best brand of printers for in home use? I had an epson stylus c60-color. It is good then all of sudden when I turned it on, it started making noises! I took it out and checked it out. It was a little black piece inside that just broke! I don't know how that happened ???!!!! :( So I need a new one now. Looking for a very good quality color printer for printing reports, essays and some pictures. Mostly will be used it for school reports. What is the best brand for a home use printer at a reasonable price---not so very expensive? Thanks a lot! :)
Do printers know to switch between black cartridge and color mid page? Say that I have a color printer. I set my printing preferences to print to "color", and I want to print a page that has a small bit of color at the top, while the rest of the page is black. My question is, will the printer be smart and print the top using the color cartridge while printing the rest with the black cartridge? Or will it be stupid and print the black portions with the color cartridge as well? If it depends on the model and year, please tell me how I would know. thanks.
Does low end color laser printers good for photo printing? I'm planning to buy a $200 Samsung color laser printer tomorrow. I don't know if it is worth it to buy it. I heard laser printers are not so good in photo printing that's why I'm asking here. So what should I buy? An inkjet or laser?
I have three color inkjet printers that all need ink, which one should I buy the ink for? I have three color inkjet printers: HP Photosmart 8450 Epson Stylus Photo R220 Epson Stylus Photo 1280 I only need one for general household printing - no photos, mostly spreadsheets, graphs, homework, etc. I print only on letter size paper - do not need the size of the 1280. I am just interested in quality efficient printing. Which one of these should I use? Or should I throw them all out and buy a new one?
Is there a logon script (batch file?) that can default prints as black on color printers? We have a color printer, and people print stuff out all the time that is in color, but doesn't need to be. We want to create a batch file, or logon script that makes it so when they have a printer, their default printing is in black and white, not color. In a color printers preferences, there is a pull down option for black & white, or color. We just want it to always default on black and white. And solutions or answers would be appreciated very much!!
What paper is the best/safest for laser printers (not color)? I purchased the Brother 2040 B/W laser printer. I have some black and white photographs and wanted to print them out with the laser printer. However, I've heard that I can't use gloss paper because the heat will melt the coating and ruin the printer. Is there high quality photo paper for laser printers? Does it make a difference if the paper is for color laser printers as opposed to black and white? Factors such as weight, iso brightness, gloss, matte...it is all becoming very confusing with such a wide selection. The photos are pretty sharp and I want to use the highest possible quality paper that is the safest to use on the laser printer. I would like to get the most professional looking results possible with a laser printer. However, finding that paper is proving rather daunting! Thanks for all your help!
Inexpensive color photo ID card printers or color ID card systems? Where can I buy color ID card printer that is not so expensive? I need an inexpensive photo ID card system . I have found color ID printers but they are far too expensive. I can buy top of the line color laser printers for less than $500 so the cost of photo ID cards system should not be several thousand dollars.
HP vs Canon: which brand produces better color laser printers? I'm sick and tired of my inkjet printer so I'm thinking of buying a new laser printer(color, of course). From my understanding, a laser printer costs a lot to maintain. In terms of quality, design and cost-performance, which brand makes better color-laser printers? HP or Canon?
Are color laserjet printers ink efficient? I cant stand our little ink jet printer. You print one page, and 10 percent of the ink is gone. I have a black and white HP laserjet printer, and it is VERY efficient. You can print over 1000 pages before you need to change the toner. So, if I bought a color laserjet, how many pages do you think I could print before the toner went out.
Why are people not adopting Color Laser printers? I am considering to buy a color laser printer. Despite prices for color laser printers have fallen, I think not many people are buying them. I would like to find out why. I wonder what could be drivers who have prevented them and conversely compelling drivers that would tip them over to buy. I was told that the cost per page to print a mono copy on a laser color printer is same or close to when compared to a laser mono printer. What's more you can have the flexibility to print color if I want to anytime too. I wonder if this is true. Oh yes, what brands/models would be a good short list and if I have to choose one brand/model, which should stand out clearly from the rest? Thanks..
Can you suggest a color printer for home use? I have a P4 PC with broadband internet connection at home. I am planning to buy a color printer, most probably an all in one, which can print, scan and copy. I hope my printing job will consist of documents, graphics and some photos and may be some good pcitures downloaded from the net. I would like to get advice on printers requiring less maintenance cost on ink catridges.I understand lots of new all in one pritners have been marketed recently. Thanks.

Epson printers not printing with no color question? I'm sure many of you have had the annoying experience of your Epson printer not being able to even print B/W documents just because 1 or all of your color cartridges are supposedly out. My question is, what can be done about it? Are there any override programs? Are there any brands of printers besides Epson that don't employ this terrible tactic? I have a CX4800.
What is the best consumer level, home office all-in-one color PRINTER on the market? I have had so many problems with printers over the years, I just want a printer I can count on! I need a color printer with a scanner, and something that can print reliably even on heavier paper, maybe even photo-quality prints. I would like something that connects via USB port. Also something that has good software. Anyone have recommendations? Oh btw, I use a PC with WinXP (and please don't recommend I buy a MAC ;-)
Where can i find service manuals for color laser printers? service manuals are not included in the printer when you purchase one. it is also not included in the manufacturer's website because this is an intensive printer repair manual. this is not an ordinary manual, it is a SERVICE (repair) manual its a fuji xerox c525a. thanks foryour answers
My color logo in Word prints with tiny dots on the edge on a B&W printer. How can I get rid of the dithering? The BW printer is a high en HP Laserjet, and the dots on the outside of the logo don't appear to show up if the logo is made in black instead of the company blue. On other printers it looks better, and on the color printer it is great. But this one printer looks like a tiny trail of ants walking around all of the letters. Why? Thanks for the feedback.... I haven't done the clean printer option and will do that today. And a B&W logo prints fine on the printer - very crisp. The dots along the outside are uniform and regularly spaced, so I'd guess it is how the colors are interpreted by the printer. The HP color printer next to it looks great if that means anything.
My office is having problems with our printers. How can we send only the color jobs to the laser color? We have a HP 4700 and a Xerox work center copier. We constantly tell our workforce to check defaults and only print color jobs to the color machine. But they never listen. So our color laser is working overtime and we need to fix it quick How can we make sure that only the color jobs go to the laser and all other (black and white) go to the xerox We are fully networked and everyone is hard wired in. PLEASE HELP

What color printer works best with Mac computer? I currently have the Kodak Easy Share all in one printer and the black ink is not coming out at all. I have no problem with the color ink since it prints beautifully. I'm ready to replace it with a new brand. I have the new MAC 24 inch monitor flat screen computer.
Is there a good color printer in which the ink does not have an expiration date? I have a HP printer, but it will give an expiration date for the ink, whether used up or not. It will eventually not print until the ink is replaced. I know the ink is still good. Is there a quality color printer (printing paper and photos) that does not expire the ink in the printer? I would like to ignore the expiration dates, however, after a later period of time, the printer will not print until I change out the expired cartridges.
What is the best deal on a color printer? I work at a clothing company and we need to make a lot of color prints during the week. I am looking for a good deal on a color printer. I want to know the best deal including printer cost and weekly toner cost. Thanks
What is the best at home color printer to buy? I don't have a lot to do at home on the computer, but my printer was broke in a home move, an old ink jet color printer, really all I needed, but what can I get know with a couple more features for a bargain? How about fax, copier, scanner features, and how about the ink prices? They fast become a real decision in this stuff? I know, bargain hunter... but, who isn't?
Why does all my stuff prints out in purple, even though my printer is supposed to be a color printer? Why does all my stuff prints out in purple, even though my printer is supposed to be a color printer? Is it the fault of my printer or of the ink? The ink is past its expiration date, but the ink I used this before this one did the same thing. Of course, that ink could have also been expired. My printer is one of those ancient ones that you have to manually feed paper to. Can anyone figure out if the strange color is because of the printer or the ink? FYI, printing in black works fine.
Are there any printers that work even when one color is not full? I have a brother printer with scanner and fax also. But if one of the colors is empty then the nothing would work. The only way to make it work again is to buy that color. What can i do? Are there any printers that even if i don't have blue or yellow, i can still use the black??? Thanks! i read the article about the ink heads being damaged if used without an specific color. But what about the scanner?? That has nothing to do with the actual ink???
What is a good affordable color laser printer that does not have a toner kill chip? I am looking for a good, affordable color laser printer that doesn't stop functioning just because a cartridge is empty. I have had some problems with Samsung CLP printers doing this and it is pretty aggravating, especially when I do not have loads of money to spend replacing all 4 cartridges. I would like to find a printer where this is not a problem.

Best color printer that prints up to 13x19? I do some printing of topographic maps, aerial views, etc and need a printer to do these. I do not need high photo quality, but do need better than my regular color lasers that do not print this large format. Any suggestions?
Alternative to Color Laser printers? Hi guys. I'm scouting for an all-in-one printer (home office). I'm after color laser's excellent (rich and fine) text printing quality which is excellent for proposals. As much as I want to get a color laser, I don't have budget for it. Is a thermal inkjet (HP) printer the next best alternative? Thanks.
What's the best color laser printer out there? I need to find the best possible laser color printer at the lowest possible price. I need to prints lots of documents black and white, flyers with a few photos on them, color posters and etc. So I would like to have both of best worlds and have some great photo quality and print the most pages per toner cartridges. I recently made a mistake and bought a HP photosmart 8250 and have gone through about almost $300 in ink, if not more (in only about 2 months). But when I think I found a good color laser printer I find horror stories from user reviews. Can anyone help me basically find a good all around color laser printer that has full ink toner and not so expensive (like over $100 per toner)? As I don't need network capability and if it has a duplexer is a bonus. Thanks for any suggestions!
How to align monitor color to printer's color? The colors of the pictures that I printed out look differently than on the monitor. What is the most cost effective color printer (re: cost of cartridges) for a small business? A while ago I purchased an inkjet printer for $99.00. I thought it was cheap but it goes through cartridges (which cost $25 or more each) like crazy, so I think it really wasn't a very good deal. My brother mentioned something to me about purchasing a business printer which would be more cost effective regarding ink. I'd like to purchase another printer which would be more cost effective regarding the ink. I'd like it to be an all-in-one (fax, copier, scanner). I'd like to be able to print in color. Any help on this topic is appreciated.

How do I know if my printer is a color printer? I want to print a cool picture but the new printer my parents bought only prints black and white. Is there any way to fix this and make it print colors? The new printer is a HP LaserJet M1319fMFP.
What color laser printer offers the highest resolution for under $500? I've recently been employed by a company that for part of the job - requires me to reproduce art work which consists mainly of sketch's with the occasional color additive. I know a decent amount when it comes to printers; I know a high resolution laser printer capable of micro printing and color replication is what I'm looking for. My budget for this printer is around $500. I've looked around at Circuit City, Best Buy, and CompUSA and don't see any laser printers that offer more than a 600x600 dpi print. Could anyone recommend me either a specific printer to think about, or some other company that offers better?
What is a good color printer to buy for the home? I am looking to buy a printer that not only prints fast but clearly as well. I would also like it to printer photos every now and then. I was looking into all-in-one printers, but was informed that not all aspects of the all-in-one's work great.

What is a good color printer with a small footprint? I currently have a big HP printer that does not fit in the new cabinets we just installed. I'd like to be able to put a printer on the shelf so it's out of sight. The shelf is about 12" deep, 24" wide, and 8" tall. The printer I'd want would be a high quality photo printer, but doesn't need to be top of the line on the photo printing. Thanks for the recommendations.

I need a good color laser printer! Can anyone give me some advice? Everyone tells me that with a laser printer, I save a LOT of money on ink catridges, either because the ink catridges are cheapt, or because the ink catridges last 10000 times longer than the ink catridges on inkjet printers. But I haven't seen any evidence of this yet. #1- IT HAS TO DO COLOR #2- The ink catridges have to be as inexpensive as possible, or atleast they need to last a LOOOOONG TIME #3- I need a good laser printer, preferrably atleast 1200 dpi. I've been looking everywhere, the one time a found a good printer, someone said the ink catridge replacements were 85 bucks! I pay 20-30 for my crappy inkjet printer! Can anyone offer some assistance please?
