Are old HP color LaserJets (8550) as trouble-free as their black & white counterparts (like the 8150)? We need a couple of heavy-duty printers and thanks to answers here, have seen that the LaserJet 8150 is probably the best black & white printer for the money for our needs. Toner is reasonable and parts are easy to get. Most importantly it seems to be very trouble-free and dependable. Considering color now for a few hundred pages per month and wondering if the same series of color printers (8550) is as rugged and trouble-free. If it isn't, what should we look at? Thanks emcade, To answer your questions: We have plenty of space, not a factor. We would use a different printer for photo-quality output so that's not necessary on this unit. The color on the high-volume unit would just give us the ability to print meaningful line-charts, etc.. We might be looking at about 600 copies per month. Cost of consumables and having a low maintenance/trouble-free unit are the major factors. We would want to be able to start it and leave without having to babysit it. I have had very good experiences with HP commercial units and terrible experience with their home units and with Lexmark, so that would tend to affect the decision. If there is no such thing as a dependable color laser, and I realize that may be the case, then we'll just go with B&W.
need help buying a printer please? planning to purchase a deskjet color printer. looking to spend at most $200, no more, prefferably less. i know when you buy a computer, it comes with free color printers. but those printers run outta ink quick and those things are way expensive. so any suggestions for a printer with these specs that dont eat up ink so fast or ones that have inexpensive ink cartridge replacements. thanks
Do I have to have the color cartridge in the printer for the black cartridge to work? I got a Lexmark X125 printer for free yesterday but it needs cartridges. All I really need is the black ink. Can I just put one cartridge(black) in or does it need also the color cartridge to run? Will it run with just one cartridge? It's been a long time since I've even had a printer so I'm not sure and it doesn't say in the booklet that came with it. Be blessed.
I am looking for a HIgh Quality Color Laserjet Printer? Our office is looking to lower our toner costs by possibly investing in a new printer altogether. Currently we are using an HP 3550 which is satisfactory for what we do, however the replacement toner cartridges cost is $500+ every few months, which in my opinion is ridiculous. If you have suggestions and would like to help, feel free to leave your insight or personal experience. Thanks for the input!
How to scan in color on laser printer/scanner/copier? I have a laser printer: Sharp AR-M455N. I was wondering if there is a way to scan a picture in color? My pictures usually come out in black and white. Does anyone know how I can get it in color? I would like to do it for free, but if I have to pay money, than that is OK too....thanks in advance!

does anyone know a web site where you can go to get instructions to install a printer to your home computer? I have Windows ME 2000 computer software. I want to install and set up a Canon model # BJC-2010 COLOR BUBBLE JET PRINTER. What website is good for assisting and helping you install the printer? Are their free web sites for this? Is their a site you can go to & download something that will get you assistance with installing a new printer to your computer. I am not networked. This is a home computer/ pc -Please give me any info that i could use to install this printer. Your help will be appreciated. Thanks, A computer novice from Texas.
What's the best all-in-one printer for a Macbook? I ordered an Apple Macbook a couple of days ago from Apple's online store. Well I didn't know that to get the free (or discounted) printer, I had to get it at the same time as the laptop so both items are on the same receipt. I went to the Apple store at the mall yesterday and the sales rep told me that for me to get the free printer, I would have to pretty much refund my Macbook and have them re-sell it on the floor. The only problem with that is that it is customized and I added more memory and speed so it will be an even harder process for them to take it back. So now I am just going to buy a printer. I want to know what is the best all-in-one printer that will be compatible with the Macbook and also my old Dell since I am keeping it. I want something for every day printing as well as something that will print good quality color pictures. I am going to be using it mostly for college. Thank you!!! I'm seeing that a lot of you recommend Epson. I looked up the Epson Stylus Photo RX700 and wow, it's pricey! On sale right now for $229.99 with a regular price of $399.99! This is the type of all-in-one printer I am definitely looking for! Now I want to ask, are there any other printers out there that are Mac compatible for a lower price than the Epson one? I just spent over $2,000 on my Macbook and accessories so I want to "try" to get the best deal for my money. If there aren't any other printers that have the same features as the Epson one (I like how it can print directly onto CD's/DVD's) then I guess I'm stuck getting that one. Anyone know of any other good, lower costing all-in-one printers? Thanks.
I'm looking to buy a nice printer, can you suggest a specific model? I've had trouble in the past with this and I've had two printers, though I don't know if the second one counts because it was a free offer from dell when I bought the computer. Anyway, when I bought ink for these printers, the color one, on the second print it already looks red and like the ink is running out. Now, I know it's not with alignment and everything, because it has happened two printers in a row and multiple ink chnages. The black one lasts fairly ok, but I recently refilled my old ink thingy at walgreens and it didn't print well at all, not even a little. Any advice?
How many are unhappy with their Canon printers? My pixma mp600 stopped printing so I checked the ink cartridges and saw my color ink cartridges were empty. I never print in color!! So I called the company (which wanted to charge me for a question. (I got sales office for free!) and they said that the printer uses color to print black??? So I had to buy three color and one black cartridge at a cost of 65 dollars (yes $65 dollars. Took them home and found out I needed another real small black cartridge. I put new cartridges in and it would not print. I put the old empty black in, and even though there was another black cart in, it still would not print. Not wanting to pay a lot for another cart. I called several refill locations and was told they can not refill pixma mp600 carts!!!. NOW I am so mad I checked internet and found a lot of complaints. I really think we should get a class action suit against Canon for riping us off making us use color cartridges when printing in black. PS: these cartridges are unbelievably small.
Can a cheap Lexmark printer print photos this good? What's the catch? I should say a FREE lexmark printer. I got a refurbished Lexmark printer z515 for $20 from a legit vendor that came with a $20 rebate, so in effect I got the printer for free. It came with two ink cartridges - lexmark black 17 & lexmark color 27. I've printed out five 8x10''s and the quality is amazing. I've matched it with prints from epson r1800 and 2400 - which go for $400-$600. I can't find any specs on the inks or the cartridges, but a pro photograper said the images will fade within about two years. Is that true or was he misinformed or jealous? Any other reason why my prints are inferior if I can't detect a difference. I have 20/10 vision or vice versa whatever your vision is when you can see at 20 feet what most people see at 10 feet (but I'm not farsighted).
Getting Black&White+Color 8x10 Headshot, will i need to purchase extras copies also? (free or not)? For example when i get the headshots and whenever i need to send them over the internet, I can easily scan them because my printer has one built in. But in some other cases i will need to mail/drop in my headshot and i wont be giving my original. Is it a good idea to get some extra copies at the place? I was thinking of buying photo quality printing paper and making my own copies at home after scanning, but not sure how the quality will turn out. By the way, the only reason i listed and white is because they wanted both B&W and color from me. By the way, the only reason i listed black and white is because they wanted both B&W and color from me.
How do I print headshots from this? My photographer gave me one free 8x10 print and a disc with 4x6s of all my pics. However, when I take it anywhere, be it Kinko's, to a Kodak Photomaker or a reproductions place, they can blow it up, but the resolution is lost and all those little squares show up. He charges $35 dollars per print!!! and I don't think he can put me name and contact info on it. I don't have a scanner, a color printer, or a CD burner. Did I get screwed?
Should I get new ink for my HP deskjet 656C or buy a new Lexmark Z611? I want to connect a color inkjet printer to a computer for occasional printing out of web pages, rebate coupons, etc. Very light use, 2-3 pages a week. I have an HP Deskjet 656c inkjet printer that hasn't been used much, but because of that the ink dried out so it needs new cartridges. It seems to work OK aside from that. I figure new ink in compatible (not OEM) cartridges is about $30.00. I have never used this printer, I got it from my son who didn't need it. It gets fair to middling reviews on the net. OR... I could get a brand new Lexmark Z611 from Office Depot for $19.99 with free shipping. With tax, about $22.00. It probably comes with a starter ink cartridge that'll last me quite a while. What should I do? Get ink for the HP or get the new Z611? Answers from people who actually have one or both of these printers will be on track to get the "best answer". The ink cartridges aren't just dried out a little, it's like dust in there. No saving them. And buying a laserjet would be wonderful but too expensive. I have one already, I need a cheap inkjet for very occasional color printing.

Website for creating my own invitations? Is there a free website I can use to create my own party invitations? Something easy to navigate, and I can print using a color printer. I looked at evite but it looks like you have to email those, and i'd like to send one by mail.

Were you just familiar with it or was there something in the description that gave it away? The RAM is 2x 2GB. And of course I'll be putting some games on it ;)
How can i password protect my printer? I work in a classroom with thirty one computers. One is my personal computer that i have all my printers installed on. One is for my assistants. I have a black laser, color laser, hp design jet plotter, and a Toshiba color copier. I need the design jet and the color copier to have a password on them for my assistants because other students have to be able to use this computer also. I would like to do it with out any soft ware, but if i have to the technology budget is almost empty so free would be best. Also we use novel iprint on all of our printers this shouldn't affect any software suggestions. I can NOT create accounts using Windows we use Novell to login, it MIGHT work the same be I'm not sure. Do you know?

In Desperate Need of Printer help!!!!? I Need help finding a website that allows me to download a printer driver for free (HP Deskjet 5650 Color Inkjet Printer) For windows Vista. HP color laser jet 3600 Missing "hppaufd0.sys" file.? Im trying to instal this hp color laser jet 3600 printer on to my computer, the only problem is when i get about half way through the instalation a message comes up telling me that it needs me to put in a HP cd with a "hppaufd0.sys" file located on it. but i searched the cd for that file and it doesn't exist. if someone knows where i can get a free driver for this that would be good, because the cd that came with the printer doesn't seem to have it. thanks.
Should I pay someone to color calibrate my monitor for photoshop editing? I have photoshop, an Epson R1800 printer & a Dell HP1925 monitor, and everything seemed fine with the color just using the free Gamma program. Then I read how you needed a more accurate calibration system so I bought spyder2express. Now everything is messed up. I followed the instructions for the spyder, but it can't locate my monitor's calibration file even though it's installed where it should be when I open the display options on Windows XP. I've tried every trouble shooting suggestion the spyder offered, even sent them an e-mail, read through my monitor manuals and printer manuals. After 10 hours I gave up and restored the calibration to sRGB default with PS so basically the spyder thing hasn't done anything. Should I get a refund, or get some tech help. The colors 'sort of match' but I have to make the monitor colors look darker to get the printed photos to get the right values I want. Also, one PS book says to use 'perceptual' setting, another PS book says to use a different setting for photos. I want to take & print photographs, not become a full-time computer manual reader. Any suggestions?
Can if I fill my colour printer cartridges with water will it think they're full? I received a printer for free from a friend. It won't print because the colour cartridges are empty. I don't want to invest money in more colour ink, I just want to be able to print black in my bedroom (for essays, etc). So, if I fill the colour cartridges with water, will the printer think that they're full? I already have a syringe. I already have black ink in the printer. I'm not buying more colour ink, I don't need to print colour in my room. I just want to print black, but can't unless the printer thinks the colour cartridges are full.
My friends ALWAYS use my printer to print? so eversince they found out that i had a color printer, many friends of mine asked me to print ALOT of stuffs for them, since they dunt have color printers. In the beginning i helped them print alot for free. (their hw, assignments etc) but ink is realy expensive so i can only print less myself to save more ink for them. But now im really frustrated, why cant they get color printers themselves? instead of bothering me all day long, and waste my ink so much? what can i do? thanks! i dun wanna hurt their feelings. i dont want them to use my printer anymore!! my mom and dad work hard to earn money and buy those ink! and i provide paper for their printing, too =/
Does my printer have to have a new color cartridge to print in black? My printer has been giving me messages that it was low on ink in both my black and color cartridges. I can't afford both this week so I bought a black one. Now when I try to print in black only (I even chose grayscale), the message says I'm low in color and won't print. WHY? I'm not trying to print in color! I won't put the name of my printer because every time I put brands or names of certain "music clubs" with so-called free music my question gets deleted. But here's a clue.... you don't know HowPissed I am about this! Thanks =D

Place to print free blank baby blue baby shower bingo cards? My mom is looking for a website to print out black baby blue baby shower bingo cards for a game Sunday but I can't find any place to print them out. I think only pastel colors work on my printer and I need them baby blue anyway but I can't find a website that has customizable free bingo cards. In fact, I can't find a place at all that has pastel colored bingo cards. They're all black, dark blue, dark red, or dark green or else the pastel ones cost and have to be shipped to me and I have to have them by Sunday and don't have like $30 for blank bingo cards. Please can you tell me a place where I can find baby blue bingo cards that I can print out for free. Thanks!!
Looking to buy a used HP Laserjet to print a couple thousand copies per month. What is the best model ever? Due to getting an answer on a previous question, we've decided we need to buy a used Laserjet for our printing needs. We'll need to also buy a duplexer and envelope feeder for it. There are many models on eBay (Laserjet 4, 4050, etc..). We don't care about the age, but we're just looking to get the most trouble-free unit we can in terms of jams, repairs, etc... Does one unit stand out among the others in this respect? Price of toner is also a consideration. We don't need color, but duplex printing would be good. Any opinions from printer repairers or heavy users of several models of HPs would be appreciated. Thanks.
Does anyone know any good websites? Hi, i just wanted to know if anyone knows any good websites that you can get free printables for scrapbooking & card-making as i have just brought a new colour printer..please let me know..Thank you =D
When you buy a new printer, do you need to buy its cartridge as well? I'm thinking of buying a used 'PIXMA MP480' printer for $20. The seller says he's almost out of cartridge. It seems that the cartridge costs a lot (black- $25/ color-$30 or more). Not sure if I should get a new printer instead. The new printer on Amazon.com is, $60 (free shipping). What do you think I should do? When you buy a new printer, it comes with the cartridge as well?

Am I spoiled?????????? It started last Christmas, when I got a camcorder. I got my dad a digital camera because I noticed that he wanted one and he went out and bought me a $900 camcorder. Next, in february I got my cell phone. My dad's cell phone plan was ending and there was a deal buy one get one free so my dad's asked me if I wanted one and I thought he was joking so I said sure. In 30 minutes, I had a brand new limited edition Motorola KRZR K1 red. I was happy cuz I wanted a cell phone since I was 10 (now I'm 14). So now he pays like $80 a month for the plan. Two weeks later, we were looking at printers (yes, my dad and I are really into electronics), and I realized that color laser printers print really well. I've had a color inkjet all my life and my dad has a black and white laser so I wanted to get it. I didn't tell my dad that I want it, but he was like, "o, look at the quality" "wow, its amazing". After a week and a half or so, my dad came home with a big box, and he's like, "look what I got for you" I opened it and I'm like "you're kidding" and he said he got it on sale cuz it costs like $290 WITHOUT ink (each toner aka cartridge costs $50 and there's 4 of them) and he got it for $290 WITH the ink included. So, we plugged it in and I got a new printer. In March, I wanted a Nintendo DS. And this is the thing I actually begged for for a month. When my dad's friend told him that his son bought himself one, my dad thought it might actually be a good gaming system. So by the end of March, I was once again happy with another toy. My confirmation came in May, and my dad spent $300-$400 for the party. There's a European tradition that children get gifts on June 1st. I got $500, because my dad thought I would need the money for my trip to Poland, so I wouldn't have to ask my grandparents for stuff. I wanted to give him back the money, but he told me that if I didn't want it i could throw it in the garbage. (Of course I didn't do that) When I went to Poland, my grandparents locked up the money and told me that they would give it back to me when I returned home to Canada, and I would give it back to my dad (how?) I then got $100 from my other grandparents, $50 from my aunt and uncle and $50 from my other aunt. (Birthday money) When I came back to Canada, after 2 months, I told my dad to take the money, but he didn't so I left it on the kitchen table, but he put it back in my room. He was thinking of getting me a laptop for my birthday, so I said that I only want a MacBook cuz I thought that he'd say that he can't afford it, and that he wouldn't buy it. my DS got busted in Poland, so we took it back to the store and said it doesn't work, and I got $200. So, I now had $900 in cash. My dad took me to Future Shop a few days before my birthday (August) and it turned out that the MacBooks were on sale, and came with a free package worth $250. We ended up getting a MacBook for me, with total cost of $1800 (with a $300 warranty included). So, I told my dad that he's getting the $900 cuz we're short on money. He FINALLY agreed. So, I payed for half my birthday present and I was really happy that my dad didn't have to pay the full price. Now, I feel really bad, cuz I asked for an iPhone for Christmas and we are REALLY short on money (actually, we always were but now we are even more), so I don't really want it anymore, because I already have a cell phone and and iPod. My dad got himself a GPS for Christmas, as if he knew he couldn't expect anything from anyone else. I had $60 saved up, so I got my dad a tie for Christmas and told him to choose whichever one he wanted. What should I do? I feel so bad that my dad gets me a bunch of stuff, when I can barely get him a tie. I wanted to get him a GPS last year, but decided on a digital camera because our old one was really bad. I know my dad loves me and I love him too, not for the stuff he gets me, but because he's my dad. He works really hard and he's the only one who works for us, because my mom died when I was like, 2 years old and I don't want my dad to get me anything anymore, cuz we need the money for other things. Am I spoiled, and what should I do?

Im in the market for a decent camera with a nice zoom. Is Kodak a good brand? The Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS Zoom Digital Camera incorporates a 12x Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon aspheric all-glass lens with Kodak's image stabilization technology for sharp shots and steady videos. The Camera records images with resolution up to 7.1 megapixels. It also features a 2.5" display, PASM modes, auto-image enhancement, on-camera cropping, histogram and a vast array of user-friendly features. The advanced controls available allow users to dive into photography and achieve more satisfying results. Kodak's proprietary color science chip yields pictures with natural details, accurate flesh tones, and impressive color. The EasyShare Z712 camera also records TV-quality videos at up to 30 frames per second (fps) using advanced MPEG-4 compression while the built-in image stabilization technology reduces on-screen shaking from unintentional hand and camera movement, thereby making videos smoother and more pleasing to watch. I could get it for $140 with free epson printer. good deal?
Where is the best place to post photos on the net? ( I take a lot of photos.)? I would like family, friends and maybe clients to have access to them...for viewing, sharing or maybe printing. The top two I am considering now are Yahoo and Shutterfly. Yahoo seems mostly free and I can quickly get a print at Target. Shutterfly has a real nice Pro Gallery program, that I would like to know more about. It sounds great...though I don't have the funds for it right now. They also have a pay-ahead program to lower the print price. There are so many outlets...and some good ones too. I'd like a location to store photos so I can delete them from my card. (I'll have to store a copy of important ones on my hard-drive somewhere??) I would also like a good quality printer who can print my black and whites or colors up to 16" x 20"s. Thanks for any photo input, Hangin' for now Do webphotos.com print fine quality photos? Why use bucketphotos.com? What's so good about photos.yahoo.com? What features do you like best...mostly what kind of quality photos do you end up with? At what point do you REALLY start paying for services/prints? Are you able to SELL your own prints off yahoo? If you had it to do over again, would you use the same service you are using now? If not, who would you try this time around? Where is the easiest place to UPLOAD your prints? I don't remember from the quick tour, does Yahoo also handle 35mm prints? Thank you for considering any of the above questions. I have so much that I am wondering about...

Should I get the Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Publisher, ect. for Mac? I saw that it had a low rating but still... I think they work well. I just used up my free trial but I don't want to waste $150 on something crappy. Also, I'm looking for a printer from the Apple website. What's one that is relatively cheap, prints in both b/w and color, prints photos, and works well? Thanks!

Uhhh...please answer, question in the details.? If I spilled tangerine blue colored revlon nail polish on my 16 year old Apple printer, how many gallons of lemonade-peroxide solution would I need to get the nail polish off the printer? And would the answer change if I told you there were 43 elephants in my closet on the fourth of July and if there were like oh I'd say 9 salesman at my bedroom door at 3:46 am baking cakes with donkey feces while trying to sell tiaras? My 68 year old son has ukelele practice so I have to go soon but this question is really important. What can I do if he can't drive yet? He has ukelele lessons every 12 hours even in the middle of the night I cry myself to sleep every night because I hate taking him to ukelele practice. He also needs braces and hasn't had a job except for a dog walker but that was on the moon so he didn't earn as much, you know what I mean? So we're kinda tight on money and I just want you to tell me how many free minutes the tooth fairy has on her phone. Thanks everyone for your suppor

I am trying to scan my old stories into my computer. The printer and computer is hooked up but . . ? Okay I know how to put the paper into the printer and press scan. Right now it goes into the program HP photo smart Essentials. How do I get it into microsoft works processor?? I know what a OCR program is but what is really good one is there a free download and how do I get the documents to my word proccessor. When it goes into the photo program I can't copy or cut, and I can't change the document. Is there a way to tell the printer or the COMPUTER that I am scanning a document and not a picture? I know about OCR programs but I don't know how to tell my computer and or scanner that I am scanning a document. I cannot access my documents though my old computer because of a virus. I have the begins of my stories on an older computer but I would still have a big problem. This would be an easy ten points if anyone could tell me what to do so I can put my precious stories from computer To texed printed out documents to the scanner and than to microsoft word where I can continue working on my stories. Any and all help would be very appreciated! Thank you in advanced!! The only question my printer asks is import to owner's printer. I have adobe reader 9 can't I use that for scaning the document into adobe reader. 3 hours ago Hey no way? I don't understand how to use tools? Program in into my printer? My printer/scanner is connected to my computer? How to I get to tools? Through the compter? Because the printer only asks copy color, copy black/white or scan. There is no way to select anything else on the printer and where would I see the tools thing to select to scan into the adobe or word program? Thank you for all the help from everone please exsplain it step by step because in this case I am not sure what to do or how to do it. Thank you!! They aren't verified? What does that mean?? I need simple instructions so I can get my stories I printed out onto the computer. Thanks I don't get that on my hp it asks scan to office. No other options. I just don't know what to do and I can't afford a geek. Any answers are aprciated.
calendars homemade? I would like to make a nice calendar for my dad with pictures of the family and including b'days and other important dates so he won't forget...is there a place that I can download a free template? Also what kind of paper and do I need a special printer or would my color one be enough? Thank you.
Epson c88+ is leaking ink.? Although the model is old, the printer itself was never used. It came free with a computer. We already had a printer from an old computer so the printer sat in the box on a shelf. I recently needed the printer for sublimation ink so I set it up. The printer uses smart cartridges and the ink is sublimation ink but there seems no reason for it to be leaking all over the place. It wasn't a big deal--a small blob here, a few dots there--but now its gotten worse. I can't print anything without the edges and random spots in the middle of the page getting covered in ink. It looks like black ink but it could be all the colors together. I opened the printer and found that there was a lot of ink leakage. I cleaned up what I could with paper towels, q-tips, etc... but its so hard to get it all. Now I'm looking for a more definate solution. Thanks, -Liz- The cartridges never sat in storage. The printer did but the cartridges were bought new for the sublimation purpose. They were immediately installed and I didn't have much of a problem at first.

Two questions about webcomics? First off, I am making a comic book that I'm wanting published on the Internet. But the comic's done on normal printer paper, and it appears too big when I scan it on my HP PSC1400 printer/scanner. How much should I resize my resolution too? Second, I want a little shading and coloring. However, I am 11 years old not knowing how to buy things off the internet without getting my ass whooped back to me with Identitiy Theft because I bought an expensive Adobe Photoshop Program. So, are there any other color and shading programs I am can try. Ones that are free (would the Paint Program work)? I'm sending all 20 issues to Drunk Duck...and I tried before, but the pictures were too big. And my comic takes up a whole page of printer paper. So...HOW SMALL SHOULD I GET ITTT?!!!!!!!!!!
