How do I dispose of an used laser toner cartridge? Is there a place I can send it to for remanufacturing? My first laser toner cartridge ran out. Can I throw it in the trash? I would prefer to recycle it or send it to a company that refills and resells them (remanufacturing). Does anyone have any info on those programs?

Is there a safe way to clean the roller on a toner cartridge? I have an HP laserjet at work, we use a special toner cartridge to print checks. The checks are coming out with lines down the page. Why does my Brother toner cartridge have a sticker that says "Removal of this sticker may void warranty?"? It's on the right side. What is it covering or hiding? I heard there is a sensor on these cartridges that shuts down the printer when the toner is low, but before the toner cartridge is actually out of toner. The printer is supposed to work again if you cover the sensor with electrical tape. It doesn't seem that tape would be placed over a sensor, but could that be it? I removed it. It covers the cap that can be removed to add more toner and I also found the two sensors on either side that can be covered with electrical tape so the cartridge will keep working.

HP Laserjet in Economode, will it wore out toner cartridge? On almost all HP laser printers, there is a built in toner saver mode called economode which is supposed to use 50% less toner per printed page. If you only print text and don't care about the more draft-like look, economode will suffice. BUT I read a blurb from an HP manual that recommends not using this setting full-time because it's possible the toner supply will outlast the mechanical parts inside the cartridge. Has anyone experienced any worn mechanical parts and if so, does it make any difference in your opinion of whether to turn on economode or not?
